The Appeal
Can you have it all? Turns out, yes. This R231 SL63 is the answer to virtually every motoring question: convertible, coupe, luxury express and supercar.
Classically finished in smart Obsidian Black over a Porcelain beige leather cabin, it is the later SL63 with 570bhp on tap, up 50bhp on the earlier version. Alongside the lengthy specification, key to its appeal is the very low mileage - under 8,000 miles - and full Mercedes Benz main dealer service history. It has been in the hands of the same registered keeper - a serial SL owner, this car being his 7th - since shortly after it was registered - before that it was the dealership’s demonstrator.
Presented in condition commensurate with the low miles and keepers, this must be one of the best examples on the market of this brutally quick GT. It will be sold with a fresh MOT.

Certain colours seem to suit the handsome lines of the R231 and Obsidian Black is one of them. Here is it tastefully paired with Porcelain leather. Clearly the first keeper, a Mercedes Benz dealership, knew what suited these cars best.
The very sparing use over the subsequent years means that the car arrives on the market in close to showroom condition. Inside and out there are few - if any - signs of age or use. It is a very highly specified car, the long list of features including a desirable glass panoramic roof, factory ‘draft stop’ system and high end sound system. All is in working order and ready to enjoy.
The Mechanics
- M157 5,461cc handcrafted AMG tuned 570bhp V8
- 7spd AMG SPEEDSHIFT automatic gearbox with sequential shift options
- Drilled brake discs
- AMG tuned suspension package
- Full main dealer service history by same franchised dealer
- No reported running or driving issues
This is one of the later versions of the SL63, which received a power hike up to 570bhp, delivered by the AMG-tuned handcrafted 5.5litre V8. It is mated to AMG’s ‘Speedshift’ automatic gearbox that offers full automatic or sequential shift modes at lightning speed.
This, then, is a supremely capable car. The performance is there it enjoy or it can be driven in a more relaxing fashion, relishing the capability and cossetting. Such is the condition that we sense that this very low mileage car, which is owned by a serial SL enthusiast, has likely been enjoyed in the latter mode. That is good news for the buyer.
The car has been regularly maintained irrespective of mileage at Mercedes Benz Bristol throughout its life and reaches the market with no reported running or driving issues. We understand that a new MOT will be supplied on purchase.
