The Appeal

Trust BMW. Tasked with shrinking the M-Sport ethos into the diminutive 2-Series coupe, its engineers didn’t simply build a smaller M3. They went one better, delivering a hooligan of a car that was a proper alternative to its bigger, established brother.

Enthusiasts love them, and it’s clear why. These cars look good - particularly in the Alpineweiss III of this example - and they go brilliantly. There’s 370bhp on tap after all. But it’s how that power is delivered that sets the M2 apart and makes it such a hoot to drive. Engaging, entertaining and just a little bit ragged, the M2 is one of the best hot coupes of recent times.

The trick then, is to find one that hasn’t been abused. Like this car. It has covered just 33,000 miles in the hands of a mere trio of keepers, all of whom have kept on top of the servicing. They have also looked after it, too - you will struggle to find signs of age around the smart exterior and high-specification interior.
