The Appeal

It was one of the greatest motoring battles of all time: Ferrari vs Ford. Ford won. Its GT40 trounced Enzo’s prancing horses four times in a row at the crucible of motor racing - Le Mans.

Just 124 GT40s were built and they are stratospherically expensive. That’s why we love this car, a careful recreation that has been detailed to replicate the JW Automotive Number 9 winning car piloted by 1968 winners Pedro Rodriguez and Lucien Bianchi. It was built in 2017 using a bespoke Southern GT body and Ford ‘Windsor’ 5L V8 supplied by specialists Reel Steel.

What sets this capable car is the attention to detail. Beyond the exterior aesthetics the interior features period-style switchgear and bucket seats. It was built to be used as a comfortable weekend sports car rather than a trackday weapon. That broadens it appeal, but there is scope to make it more focused if the buyer wishes.

The car has covered only 1,000 miles since the build was completed and is in very good mechanical condition. Few classics are as evocative as a well-executed GT40 replica and this car looks absolutely magnificent. Will any car deliver more smiles per mile - for you and passers-by?
