Much like its German rival, the Aston Martin Vantage GT8 is supposed to feel like a racing car that’s had numberplates screwed to each end - and it really does. Driving dynamics take precedence over all else and with a howling 4.7-litre naturally-aspirated V8 under your right foot, this is one seriously impressive car.

So why don’t we see more of them?

The GT8 is exceedingly rare. Just 150 were made in all and we’re delighted to present car number 47. Resplendent in Special AML Sunburst Yellow 2, this GT8 looks just a few stickers away from a place on the grid. It’s in superb condition with a mere 11,534 miles on the clock and it has been serviced by Aston Martin main dealers from new.

In standard form, the Ian Callum-designed Vantage is a very good-looking car and this GT8 version takes it to another level. The huge rear wing and copious raw carbon appointments leave nobody in any doubt that this Aston Martin means business. While it looks like a racing car on the outside, the interior is pleasingly plush, with beautiful Alcantara upholstery and a raft of modern convinces including Bang and Olufsen Beosound audio.

In line with its ultra-low mileage and excellent service history, this 2017 example is free from any notable signs of wear. We’re assured that it’s never been involved in any accidents and we note that it presents impeccably throughout. The vendor has taken great care in readying this car for its next custodian and we can say most certainly that it does not look anywhere near its age.

With a 190 mph top speed and 440 horsepower to play with, this is a seriously quick car.

When tested by Evo back in 2016, Henry Catchpole wrote of the engine:

“The soundtrack that fills the cabin is pure motorsport, building from a rich V8 burble at low revs into something with a real hardness to its timbre once it spins beyond 6000rpm and reaches for the limiter at 7500rpm. The nice thing is that in the dry the power is of a magnitude that you would find it easy to constantly visit the thrilling upper reaches of the rev range.”

Most contemporary reviews found the seven-speed automated manual was the gearbox to have, and that’s what we find in this car. This vendor has recently replaced the hydraulic ASM system and reports that this car is now “as good as new” to drive.
