The Appeal
For its first bespoke Jaguar, the firm’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) unit went back to its past. To the remarkable run of seven Le Mans wins achieved by the iconic D-Type. Project 7 was born.
With its D-Type style rear deck, 562bhp 5litre V8 and chassis prepared under the tutelage of a Formula One engineer, this was no ordinary F-Type. It was so good and so well received that none other than Harry Metcalfe, the founder of Evo, bought one.
Only 249 other buyers got the chance, including the current keeper of this beautiful example. He ordered it from new in bespoke Goodwood Blue with a raft of £8,000 SVO Project 7 options. It is only for sale due to a change of circumstances.
If you’re after a Project 7 that is as close to new as possible, this one is surely it. It has covered less than 2,500 miles since 2016, yet been serviced by Jaguar annually. The condition is close to immaculate. We struggled to identify any signs of use across the car. Equipped with an advisory-free MOT to July 2025, this is a collector-quality vehicle and one of the greatest Jaguar sports cars of the modern era.

The Project 7 was unveiled at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2013, so it feels appropriate that this car is finished in the bespoke Goodwood Blue finish. It looks fantastic, the paintwork accented by Project 7 stripes and roundels and front and rear spoilers. And there is that D-type referencing rear deck…
Inside, the car is specified with Palomino leather finished in Jet back with contrast stitching and quilted elements to doors and seats. The leather also extends across the dashboard. The cabin shows few, if any, signs of use.
The Project 7 makeover is at once unusual, tasteful and distinctive as only a high performance Jaguar sports car should be. This car’s sparing use means that it arrives with the second keeper in very similar condition to how it rolled out of the showroom for the first keeper.
The Mechanics
- 5litre AJV8 from F-Type R uprated from 542bhp to 567bhp
- 8spd automatic gearbox with sequential shift options
- 0-60mph in 4.1secs
- Lowered and reworked F-Type R chassis
- Carbon ceramic brakes
- Compressor and tonneau included
- Full Jaguar service history with eight entries to 2,459 miles
- No reported running or driving issues
- No mechanical or running gear advisories on current or any previous MOT
When your starting point is the 542bhp F-Type R, more power is not really top of the agenda. The Project 7 does squeeze bhp up to a heady 567bhp, but it is really about how this car drives that makes it the choice of buyers like Harry Metcalfe.
The transformation was overseen by Jaguar’s Alister Whelan, who perfected his craft at Williams F1. Chassis tweaks, lower suspension, sharper steering and bigger brakes all dial up the dynamism of the Project 7 compared to its standard factory siblings.
The treat for the buyer is that this car’s sparing use means it still drives exactly as it was intended to on the day it left the showroom. Regular annual servicing by Jaguar - irrespective of mileage - means that it is in tip-top mechanical condition. The absence of mechanical or running gear advisories on any MOT since 2019 underlines the point.
This is a well-cared-for, enthusiast-owned Project 7 that arrives with the buyer ready to use and enjoy.
