The Appeal
It's an icon of life in Tropical Climes, and for good reason. The auto-rickshaw, often dubbed the Tuk-Tuk in its most popular territories, revolutionised transportation during the era of mass-industrialisation in the 1950s and has continued to endure as one of the most important vehicles ever introduced to the East.
Using a stripped-back Daihatsu motorcycle as a base, the Tuk-Tuk is built by multiple manufacturers in all manner of specifications, ranging from small commercial load-bearers to couple's taxis and party vehicles. This particular one, built by Global Tuk-Tuk, is in the party specification, built to take six passengers in the rear and carrying a robust 659cc Daihatsu power unit - much larger and tougher than its smaller contemporaries.
This not only allows it to reach 90kph (55mph), but makes it capable of around 120 km per day. As a result, this particular Tuk-Tuk has seen a lease of life in the Cotswolds, where it's happily plied its trade as a tour and wedding hire vehicle. With its quirky, go-anywhere, do-anything personality, we're sure it'll prove a very versatile classic for its lucky new owner.

✓ We want a smooth transaction just as much as you do and as such we run all UK-registered cars and motorbikes for sale on Car & Classic through an online HPI check to verify that they show no insurance database markers for damage or theft, and have no finance owing, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off as part of an insurance total loss claim at the time an advert is placed on Car & Classic and we helpfully provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) for your assistance. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status and it is always worthwhile carrying out your own full vehicle history check before making an offer on a vehicle.
