The Appeal

The Danbury ‘Doubleback’ is a very clever idea. Danbury teamed up with Overland Motorhomes developing and improving their lightweight aluminium frame electric rear ‘pod’. This effectively doubles the Transporter’s internal usable space, providing kitchen and side bench seating functions including a table, while enabling the double bed to remain fully extended. Yet with motorhome-sized living quarters, it is still possible to rock up to your local supermarket without being banished to the far reaches of the overflow car park!

This very low mileage example is believed to be one of six and is kitted out for off-grid and light off-road use. There is a solar panel on the roof and raised suspension via a Bilstein Lift Coil kit, with Yokohama AT tyres. It is very stylish, mixing silver paintwork with removable decals with a luxury burgundy leather interior.

The incredible specification includes that clever pod that extends the living space at the flick of a switch in just 45 seconds. A rear hinged Reimo elevating roof incorporates a 2 person roof bed with twin reading lights, and a full length Fiamma external side awning is fitted to expand the living area further. There are numerous electrical sockets and USB charging sockets. Everything works well and it is said to be in great mechanical condition. The advisory-free MOT runs to May 2025.
