The Appeal
There’s a 911 to suit virtually any sort of driver. The 991.1 GTS is for those who want it all: comfortable long-distance cruising, open-top motoring, viscerally exciting 430bhp naturally aspirated performance and planted all-wheel drive.
Finished in classic black with an extensive black leather interior and neat detailing, such as those Fuchs-referencing five-spoke alloys, this is a delectable GTS. The factory specification includes a desirable manual box - all the better to extract the full benefit of all that power - and a Sport Chrono Package. It has covered just 22,413 miles from new in the hands of a duo of keepers, the current one since 2018. The maintenance has been kept in line with Porsche’s strict requirements, all work undertaken by main dealers.
As an indication of the care and attention, when not in use, the fastidious keeper stores the car in a garage with a trickle charger and fitted car cover. No wonder then, perhaps, that there are no advisories on the current MOT.
This is a very well-specified and beautifully maintained 991.1 GTS. One not to miss.

The vendor writes:
“The Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS (991.1) is a unique and highly desirable variant within the 911 lineup, offering several distinctive features that set it apart. It was the last naturally aspirated GTS variants, featuring a 3.8-litre flat-six engine producing 430 horsepower. This makes it more powerful and responsive than the standard Carrera models. It comes equipped with a rare 7-speed manual transmission, offering a more engaging driving experience compared to PDK-equipped models. This manual gearbox is praised for its precise shifts and driver involvement.
“The Targa features a distinctive roof mechanism that combines open-top driving with a fixed roll bar, reminiscent of the original 1960s Targa design. The fully automatic roof system can open or close in just 19 seconds, providing a unique blend of coupe-like security and convertible-style open-air driving.
GTS models include the Sport Chrono Package as standard, enhancing performance and driver engagement. Aesthetic enhancements include smoked bi-xenon headlights, gloss black 20-inch wheels, and black exterior accents. The interior features Alcantara trim, sport seats, and GTS-specific instrumentation.
“As the last naturally aspirated GTS model before Porsche's shift to turbocharging, this 991.1 Targa 4 GTS holds significant appeal for collectors and enthusiasts. The combination of the Targa body style with GTS performance upgrades makes it a relatively rare configuration within the 911 range. The manual transmission option further increases its desirability and potential future value, as manual sports cars become increasingly scarce. Driving Experience
“The GTS strikes a balance between everyday usability and track-focused performance, offering a more engaging driving experience than standard Carrera models without the hardcore nature of GT3 variants. The all-wheel-drive system provides excellent traction and confidence, especially in varied weather conditions.
“In summary, the Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS (991.1) represents a sweet spot in the 911 range, combining the unique Targa body style, naturally aspirated GTS performance, and the engagement of a manual transmission. Its limited production status and position as one of the last naturally aspirated GTS models make it a potentially attractive investment opportunity for Porsche enthusiasts and collectors.”

This example marries the naturally aspirated 3.8L flat-six to a rare and desirable manual gearbox. It is a choice that enables the driver to fully exploit and engage with the potential of that power plant. You can read the current keeper’s assessment of that combination below.
It is an exceptionally low mileage car that has been maintained to exact Porsche factory requirements. All work has been undertaken by Porsche main dealers throughout the car’s life. It is reported to come to market with no known issues and nothing for the buyer to attend to. That is underlined by the advisory-free MOT.
This is an enthralling car that will bring a smile to the driver and passenger’s faces every time it goes out.
The vendor tells us:
“Driving the Porsche 911 Targa GTS, especially in its normally aspirated form with a manual seven-speed gearbox, offers a unique and exhilarating experience that combines classic Porsche dynamics with modern engineering.
“The 911 Targa GTS is known for its exceptional driving dynamics, combining the open-air thrill of a convertible with the performance prowess of a sports coupe. This model is equipped with four-wheel drive, providing incredible grip and stability, particularly on challenging roads or in adverse conditions. The car's chassis is finely tuned to deliver a balanced and engaging drive, making it both fun and confidence-inspiring whether you're cruising on a scenic route or tackling tight corners. The Targa's design also means you can enjoy the unique experience of open-top driving without sacrificing the structural rigidity typically associated with convertibles.
“The naturally aspirated engine provides a linear power delivery that is both responsive and engaging, making every drive feel special.
“The manual seven-speed gearbox in the 911 Targa GTS adds a layer of driver involvement that is increasingly rare in modern sports cars. This transmission is celebrated for its precise and satisfying gear shifts, allowing drivers to feel more connected to the car and the road. The manual gearbox requires active participation from the driver, enhancing the overall driving experience by demanding attention and skill.
“The normally aspirated engine paired with this manual transmission provides an authentic driving experience characterised by immediate throttle response and a thrilling engine note as you climb through the revs. Unlike turbocharged engines, which can sometimes feel muted or delayed, this setup offers a more visceral and direct connection between driver input and vehicle response.
“Overall, driving the Porsche 911 Targa GTS with its naturally aspirated engine and manual gearbox offers a blend of performance, engagement, and open-air enjoyment that appeals to purists and enthusiasts alike.”
