  • Variable exhaust system
  • Smooth automatic gearbox
  • Modern infotainment system
  • Four brand new high quality tyres fitted

The Appeal

Launched in 2014 the F-Type quickly found its way into the hearts of petrol heads around the world. Jaguar had finally produced another noteworthy sports car after so long out of the game and isn’t it just an amazing car?
As this is the R variant under the bonnet, you’ll find a large supercharged V8 that has a raucous soundtrack able to wake the dead. This example is in great condition and ready for its next big Euro road trip.

The History and Paperwork

  • As the car is fairly modern you can appreciate the fact that it hasn’t had time to accumulate mountains of paperwork
  • On the other hand that is good news, showing that the car has been nice a reliable throughout its years on the road
  • There is a printout from Jaguar showing the services that the car has had up until 2018
  • It had its 36-month service in July of 2018 at 31,567 miles
  • Since then it has covered a few miles, but modern engines are usually rated to larger mileage intervals
  • It's not uncommon now to see 20,000-mile intervals
  • Within the paperwork, you’ll find the lovely leather-bound document holder which is filled with handbooks
  • There is also an invoice from Jaguar for its MOT in 2019
  • You can see with the online records that it has sailed through every MOT since then
  • Bought by the current owner from a Jaguar dealership in 2021
  • They intended to register it in France, but the cost of this made it unfeasible
  • Since then it has been garaged
  • It has also recently had an oil and filter change
  • It is now your chance to add to the history
  • With a fairly sizeable boot, you will be able to take this sports car on some proper adventures

The Interior

  • Leather bucket seats
  • Infotainment system
  • Electrically operated memory seats
  • Meridian sound system
  • Glass panel section
  • A speedo that goes to 200
Upon unlocking the car, its flush door handles pop out. Pulling the handle and gently swinging the door open you are met with an interior that feels incredibly modern. A large touchscreen sits in the centre console and the quirky Jaguar steering wheel is filled with controls. Sliding down into the seat you are cocooned by leather and soft-touch materials, all that is left to do is start the car with the bronze push-to-start button.
Before you put it into drive, let’s just have a look at the condition of the interior. Starting with the two leather seats we can see that they are both in excellent condition. You may spot a little mark on the base of the driver’s seat, but this has not ripped or torn through the material.
Both the seats fitted are perfectly sculpted to hold you on those long trips, but with big side bolsters they should hold you well through the twisty bits. Both are embossed with the R logo on the headrest just so you don’t forget you’re in this fire breathing monster. Just above the seats, the headlining is in great condition. At a glance, you may think that it is just a normal roof section, but alas, you are wrong. Pulling back the retractable roof section floods the interior with natural light. Turning it from a focused V8 sports car, into a comfortable long-distance cruiser.
Speaking of long-distance cruises, it is important to be well entertained to keep your concentration levels up. Thanks to the touch screen and Meridian sound system you will have ample opportunity to stay up to date with the sat-nav and any podcasts you may wish to listen to.
Moving slightly down from the screen there are a plethora of push buttons, now this is where the car gets interesting. There is the obvious gear selector for the automatic box, but there are some other fun buttons and toggles. The first toggle to mention is the one for your drive mode, the only one you need to remember is the sportiest function, this’ll liven the whole car up. You’ll also find the traction control button, and the button to raise the rear spoiler. There is an ‘eco’ button, but who buys a V8 sports car to put it into eco mode?
The best button is the exhaust button. Pressing this button opens the valves in the exhaust and changes the entire character of the car. We strongly recommend to always press this button and enjoy the V8 burble.
Finally, in the electrically opening boot, you'll find a rather large section for your bags and belongings.
Overall, the interior of this modern car is presented very well. All you need to do is get in and go, with the windows down and the V8 producing its legendary soundtrack you’ll understand the point of this car.

The Exterior

  • Black on black
  • Red brake calipers
  • Retractable spoiler
  • Flecks of carbon fibre
  • Reversing camera
The interior might be something special, but the exterior is where you will first fall in love with this car. It's simple styling with only subtle hints to what hides under the bonnet is a winner in our eyes. Finished in an understated black-on-black exterior theme it flies under the radar when you wish to go unnoticed, but if you wake up the exhaust, then it will always turn a few heads as your roll on by.
Over the past eight years, the paint has aged well, there are almost no marks to the paint. If you look hard enough then you may pick up on a few spots, but when you come flashing by at 70 on the motorway people wouldn’t be able to see them anyway. They’d be too busy complementing your choice of car.
Sitting on four wonderful black alloys it continues the subtle exterior styling. There are a few areas on the offside front wheel that appear to have had battles with a curb in the past, but the other three wheels are in good condition.
Set behind the black alloys, we have our first exterior glimpse that this car means business. That is of course thanks to the red brake calipers. Not only do they look cool, but everyone knows that red brake calipers add at least 10bhp.
There are also a few other subtle hints to the car’s sporty nature. The door caps and side vents appear to be carbon fibre. You’ll also find the obligatory R badge on the rear, just above the quad tailpipes.
This car will look amazing sitting within your collection, or out of the French Riviera. Wherever you wish to take this car, it will look beautiful doing it.

The Mechanics

  • 5.0l supercharged V8
  • Smooth ZF gearbox
  • Sporty exhaust note
  • Over 500bhp on tap
  • Rear wheel drive
Pressing the bronze start button wakes the beast under the bonnet. On a cold morning, it’ll bark into life and burble away nicely through its quad tailpipes. Pulling it into drive you’ll creep away in Jaguar comfort but push the throttle a bit more and you’ll be thrust back into your seat are the power is sent through the automatic gearbox and to the rear wheels.
This example appears to be in fine mechanical fettle. Having seen minor use, it has been on a trickle charge and was left running during the shoot to give the battery chance to have a proper charge to it. Throughout the shoot, it idled perfectly never once raising or lowering the revs in an untoward fashion.
Driving it to the location was a true piece of theatre with a few people admiring the sleek beast. The gearbox worked perfectly switching between its gears and the steering was very sporty. Nicely weighted you know that you are in a proper sports car.
The car currently runs on 4 matching Pirelli P Zero tyres. These were changed when the current owner acquired the car as the original tyres were starting to perish. With these newer tyres, it should give you the confidence to use all of this car’s driving prowess.
It is now your chance to get behind the wheel of this wonderful, and soon to be a modern classic. After all, the F-Type will be Jaguar's final petrol powered sports car.

Summary

There aren’t many places now where you can get a modern V8 sports car. With this in mind and proper Jaguar luxury, the F-Type is a car that will always be a true driver’s car.
Jaguar has been very vocal about its ambition to be fully electric by 2025 and have just realised the final F-Type. As true petrol heads this is very sad, so why use this car as intended throughout the twilight years of the internal combustion engine.
You don’t want to miss out on this wonderful example, in the future this will probably be a very desirable collector’s item.
