THE APPEAL
The story of the Porsche 911 has been one of evolution rather than revolution since it debuted in 1963.
As a result, every iteration of the classic coupé has been instantly recognisable as the German company’s icon, with the 2013-2019 ‘991’ series harking back to the classic sloped oval headlamps and “tea-tray” boot spoilers that have defined 911s at various stages during the model’s lifecycle.
Introduced at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the 991 was offered in two launch trims. The Carrera was equipped with a 3.4 litre six-cylinder boxer engine with direct fuel injection generating a maximum power output of 350bhp, and the larger 3.8-litre put out 400bhp.
This example is a UK-spec 991 Carrera 4 Convertible, with the 3.4-litre unit under its rear engine cover and Porsche’s sought-after ‘PDK’ automatic transmission – a seven-speed auto with manual control and shift paddles, derived from parent company VW Group’s ‘DSG’ technology. It allows faster changes than the manual models and was the fastest ‘standard model’ 991.
For sale due to bereavement, the car has four recorded keepers but the most recent change was due to ownership being transferred to the late owner’s wife. It’s a lovely low mileage example that has been main dealer maintained.

THE INTERIOR
- Truffle Brown Club Leather
- 2+2 rear seating
- Fully functional PCIM infotainment system
- Beautifully presented
The cabin of the 911 is exceptionally smart, with no notable wear. The electrically adjustable optional Truffle Brown ‘Club Leather’ seats are in fine order and the carpets, door trims and dashboard are all in excellent overall condition with no notable marks or damage.
The Porsche ‘PCM’ stereo/infotainment/trip computer system works as it should and displays an enticing Porsche logo on start-up, while all of the dials and controls work as they should.
Everything is in exceptional order, as you’d expect from a car with such a low mileage. The leather seats are free from any noticeable imperfections front and rear, although those in the back really are only suited to small people. Still, it’s officially a four-seater if you need to get the purchase through a family filter.
All of the dials and controls work as they should, and the yellow Carrera clock is a work of mechanical art. You could happily sit and watch it for hours…
THE EXTERIOR
- Agate Grey Metallic
- 20-inch diamond cut alloys
- Power-folding roof
- Fabulous overall presentation
The 991 is in wonderful condition with only a few very tiny marks to the paintwork and nothing of any concern whatsoever – one small paint chip on the upper edge of the bonnet being the only evident imperfection.
The paint is understood to be all original and unsurprisingly, given its low mileage, the car is in great condition. Those huge black and silver diamond cut alloys with their delicate rims are unmarked.
It’s in impeccable condition from every angle, the electric roof works as it ought to and it is a car that will certainly attract attention!
THE MECHANICS
- 3.4-litre flat-six
- Seven-speed PDK transmission
- Main dealer serviced and in great running order
- No known faults
The 911 is equipped with Porsche’s characterful 3.4-litre flat-six, which delivers a meaty 350bhp.
The PDK transmission is Porsche’s dual-clutch sequential semi-auto system, which uses electromagnetic clutches to deliver razor-quick changes. It can be operated via the gear lever or steering wheel buttons.
It has been carefully maintained by main dealers and was last serviced just over 1,000 miles ago.
It starts and runs beautifully and the vendor reports that it is fantastic to drive, with no known issues or faults.
SUMMARY
If you want a supercar that is perfectly suitable for everyday use then a 911 is the default choice - and for a very good reason. With the two-pedal PDK transmission, even more so.
This is a car that can be as calm and docile as you need it to be if crawling around the M25 or picking your way through urban traffic, but which really comes into its own on the open road. Threading your way through twisty country lanes will really show the 991 in its element, yet it is also a great long-distance cruising companion. It’s a car for all purposes and is never not fun to drive.
This one is in fabulous condition and is a total head-turner – a lovely open-top Porsche ready to make the most of the upcoming summer months.
