The Appeal
Spare a moment for Ferrari’s road car engineers. Each new day at work must carry the heavy weight of history, every new car required to be better than the last.
They pulled it out of the bag with the 458 Italia. It is widely regarded as one of the greatest Ferraris of the modern era. Beautifully balanced and beautiful too, its 570bhp V8 delivers exhilarating performance.
Despite those qualities, many 458 Italias are savoured by their owners, the experience saved for best. Perhaps none more so than this car, which has covered well short of 9,000 miles since first registration in 2012. Its two keepers have preserved it with care, the car presenting now in ‘Nero on Nero’ much as it surely did the day the cover was pulled off it in the showroom.
Its first keeper specified it well, the black accented by yellow callipers outside and red stitching inside. The original sales invoice indicates it carries £30,000 of factory options. With a long MOT to April 2025 and a set of new Pirelli tyres, this is a great example of one of the petrol motoring era’s greatest cars.

Other invoices indicate regular servicing during car’s life

The Condition
Understated and well kept ‘Nero’ metallic paintwork
Paintwork indicates the very low mileage with few signs of use
There are some minor but sparse stone chips to the front of the car
Bodywork is straight and reportedly repaired to a high standard by Ferrari
Five spoke 20in factory alloy wheels in good order with only minor marks to note
Pirelli tyres show no issues and appears to be new or very recently fitted
Yellow brake callipers neatly accent the dark exterior
Beautiful black leather and suede interior with red stitching highlights
Interior appears virtually new with barely any wear to commonly used surfaces
Leather dashboard and trim in black with red stitching
Carbon accents to dashboard, console and steering wheel
Specification includes factory sat nav
Rosso Red may be the default choice for a mid-engined Ferrari but, as this car proves, more understated tones such as the Nero metallic of this car work as well, if not - and this may be heresy - better. The effect accents the clean, neatly detailed lines of the 458. This cars first owner has dialled things up a notch with anodised alloys and yellow calipers. We understand that the tyres were recently replaced to address advisories on the last MOT.
Inside the tasteful, well-preserved theme continues with black leather and suede trim for the seats, detailed with red stitching. The dashboard features black leather with red stitching and carbon highlights for the wheel and console. As you might expect of such a sparingly used car, there are few signs of use.
The Mechanics
4,497cc F136 V8 developing 570bhp
7spd dual-clutch automatic gearbox with sequential shift options
Usual 458 Italia technological features including driving modes
Very tidy engine bay with well-preserved crackle red cam cover finish
No reported running or driving issues
Only 600 miles covered since last service by Ferrari
One minor MOT advisory on last test to note
Each element of the 458 combines to deliver the rave reviews of owners and journalists. There’s the 570bhp F136 V8. The lightning-quick 7spd dual-clutch gearbox. The delicately balanced, lightweight chassis.
This car appears to have been maintained through its life by Ferrari, the last service only 600 miles ago. There is a very minor advisory on the current MOT to note, but otherwise the car reportedly arrives with the buyer in the sort of condition you would like a very low mileage 458 Italia to be in.
