The Appeal

Released in an age where supercars were relying more and more on electronics to make them faster, the Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera was hailed by motoring journalists at the time as a refreshingly analogue machine. As befits the ‘Superleggera’ ethos, Lamborghini simply removed weight and added power, and the result was truly magnificent…
With a 5.2-litre V10 562 bhp sent to all four wheels and an abundance of carbon fibre keeping the overall mass down to 1340 kilograms, this is a seriously quick machine and as you’d expect, it handles brilliantly too. We’re excited to present this 2011 example which has only covered 20,063 miles. Presented in fantastic overall condition and very highly specced, this is an opportunity you can’t afford to miss.

The Interior

  • Grigio Alcantara upholstery
  • Carbon fibre door trims, transmission tunnel and steering wheel
  • Carbon backed sports bucket seats
  • Equipped with integrated satellite navigation
A Lamborghini’s interior is always as dramatic as its exterior and with swathes of Alcantara and carbon fibre, this Gallardo does not disappoint. The carbon serves a purpose too, keeping the car as light as possible and seeing that weave on so many surfaces you interact with confirms that this is the performance-orientated version of the Gallardo.
The vendor points out that this is a very highly specced example, with satellite navigation fitted from the factor as well as a wealth of other toys inside the cabin. The knurled switchgear feels akin to that of a racing car and the analogue instruments are a nice touch when the digital readout reigns supreme today.
There’s no notable wear anywhere to be seen on the Alcantara. The controls are barely worn and we didn’t spot any damage to the carpets or headlining. The aforementioned carbon fibre has been given a glossy polished finish and we didn't spot any obvious scratches.

The Exterior

  • Bianco Monocerus paintwork
  • Carbon fibre rear wing, rear diffuser, side skirts and front splitter
  • The car’s structure is mostly aluminium
  • Ten-spoke Callisto alloy wheels with a matching set of Michelin PS4 tyres
  • Yellow brake callipers
  • Rear view camera
  • Small 1" mark in the rubber of the near side quarter light glass
We doubt the word ‘subtle’ has ever been uttered inside the Lamborghini design studio and their cars are all the better for it. The Gallardo is one of their greatest hits and the LP570-4 Superleggera looks particularly good with its copious carbon adornments.
The bodywork is all very smart, with no damage apparent and while close examination will likely yield the odd small stone chip, there aren’t any paint imperfections to report. All the carbon around the lower bodywork looks to be in fine order with no damage and similarly, those distinctive alloy wheels do not appear to have been kerbed. All the glass presents well, as do the various lights, stripes and badges. The wheels are shod with Michelin PS4 tyres which were infirmed are in great order.

The Mechanics

  • 5.2-litre V120 engine mounted amidships
  • E-gear automated manual gearbox with paddle shift
  • Equipped with front-lift
  • 30% clutch wear indicated
  • We’re informed that it has recently received new spark plugs, brake fluid and auxiliary belts
There’s something rather special about a V10. The inherently off-balance warble of a five-cylinder engine is doubled, to create sound that has all the melody of a Puccini opera. Mounted amidships behind the occupants’ heads, this V10 can be viewed through a glass engine hatch and it certainly proves very vocal as you explore the upper rev range.
We’re informed that this Lamborghini drives immensely well, with vast reserves of power and  fabulous handling which translate to grin-inducing performance. We’re not informed of any faults and with its servicing reportedly up to date, it is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.

Summary

The analogue supercar is sadly a dying breed, with hybridisation inevitably making cars bigger and heavier. If you’re looking to sample one of what is likely the last featherweight Lamborghinis, then be sure to make this very fine Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera yours.
