The Appeal
Replacing the venerable Arnage, the Mulsanne is a superbly engineered luxury saloon, replete with a hugely powerful 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8 and a truly opulent interior. The Mulsanne was available with a vast range of interior and exterior options, so customers could make sure that their car was truly unique.
This example is presented in a striking two-tone colour scheme, with a contrasting tan interior that is very well finished and offers the kind of sumptuous and lavish material quality that the marque is renowned for.

Finished in a deep tan leather, the seats and other upholstered areas present well, with no major wear or damage to the leather apparent. It bears the hallmarks of the usual Bentley quality, with fine stitching and embroidered crests to the front seats.
Complementing the upholstery, tan carpets and floor mats run through the cabin and look to be in excellent condition. We didn’t see any staining or significant wear. Even the boot carpet appears to be near-pristine, with a spacesaver spare lurking beneath.
As is tradition in a Bentley saloon, there is plenty of burr walnut, with the handsome wood adorning the door caps, dashboard and centre console. It all looks to be in good order, with no cracking, warping or delamination we could see.
Similarly, the rest of the trim, switchgear and driving controls look to be in good condition, with some minor evidence of light wear commensurate with the vehicle’s age.
The Exterior
- White and deep silver two-tone paintwork
- Daytime running lights
- Factory alloy wheels
With gleaming white sides and lower portions, contrasted with a deep silver finish to the upper body and roof, this Mulsanne is certainly individual. The paintwork itself looks nice and clean, with no notable blemishes or damage we could discern. A gold coachline runs down each flank, providing a neat highlight.
All of the body panels present well - looking to be straight and tidy, with crisp lines, no evidence of corrosion and even shutlines.
The external trim and badging shows well too, with nothing missing and everything apparently in good order and showing little in the way of wear. Meanwhile, the car is still sitting on its factory alloy wheels, which appear to be in good order, with no noticeable damage or corrosion.
Underneath, the floors and sills are nice and straight. We certainly didn’t see any evidence of corrosion or damage. It all appears in good, clean condition.
The Mechanics
- 6.75-litre twin-turbo V8
- ABS and traction control
- Eight-speed ZF automatic transmission
- Air suspension
Under the bonnet, the engine bay is nice and clean, with no evidence of leaks that we could see. That twin-turbo V8 is a mighty unit too. It develops 505hp and a barely credible 1,020Nm of torque from just 1,800rpm. This means you can charge along, riding a wave of torque in absolute luxury and serenity.
Although all that grunt is delivered to the rear wheels, it’s done through a smooth automatic transmission and a number of drive modes, so whatever conditions you face, the Mulsanne is ready. There’s paddle shift and a Sport setting for those that like to get involved, Comfort setting for wafting along and an Individual setting for precise tailoring of the driving experience.
Alongside these systems, the continuously variable dampers of the air suspension set-up are constantly working to provide the most level and cosseting ride possible.
Summary
Whether you’re experiencing it from the driver’s seat or the magnificence of the rear cabin, the Mulsanne is a wonderful and enigmatic machine. This example provides a highly distinctive way to stand out from the legions of grey luxury cars on the road.
