THE APPEAL
The Range Rover ‘L322’ is a very special vehicle in all of its forms, but there are some special editions that really stand out. Such as this one, which was created for the model’s 40th anniversary in 2010.
Finished in unique Barolo Black, the Autobiography Black Edition was offered with a choice of three distinctive interior colourways – ivory, full black, or red. This one features the boldest of the lot, the red theme, with seat facings, door trims and the lower dash rail picked out in rich oxblood leather.
It makes an already fabulous vehicle even more compelling – after all, when Land Rover facelifted the L322-Series Range Rover for the 2010 model year, it threw everything it had at what was already the finest luxury 4x4xfar.
Not content with lording it over the rest of the vehicles on the road with the grand and stately original, the mid-life tweaks gave the L322 a new face, a vastly improved cabin and – most significantly – an all-new engine range, banishing the old BMW powertrains to the past and instead using the recently cojoined Jaguar Land Rover’s own units – a 3.0-litre diesel, a 4.4-litre TD V8 diesel and a stupendous 5.0-litre V8, which was fitted to the top models in the range.
This one is the 4.4 TD V8 – the one to have, according to fans of the breed, offering palatable running costs with a torquey diesel powertrain that delivers a lot of clout.
When new, the Special Edition would have tipped the scales at comfortably more than £90,000. Today, it’s yours for a much smaller amount, yet is no less grand a vehicle for it. DSC_2029.jpeg13.78 MB

This is a very special L322 variant that’s actively sought-after by Range Rover aficionados and is presented in stunning overall condition.
Being an Autobiography model, it was comprehensively equipped to begin with, but the addition of the Black Edition extras, red leather highlights and piano black interior trim add even further to its appeal.
Having recently had a major service, suspension overhaul and gearbox service, it wants for nothing. A lovely example of a very rare and increasingly collectable L322.
