The Appeal
The Jaguar XK Portfolio Convertible is right up there when it comes to big-engined luxury convertibles, and rightly so. Costing over £70,000 when new, the XK Portfolio was ahead of the game when it came to styling, technology, handling and performance. With a 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds, the XK is no slouch, and it handles immensely, thanks to the Jaguar Dynamic suspension.
This one owner, 18179 miles 2010 XK Portfolio Convertible, has been cherished by the vendor from new. Spending most of its time locked away in his garage, the XK has been used for just a few hundred miles each year. It comes with a full-service history; the last service was carried out in January 2023, and approximately 370 miles have been covered since then.

The plush leather interior of the Jaguar XK Portfolio is in excellent condition. The electric memory seats can be adjusted in every way imaginable, and the leather is in excellent condition with just a very slight amount of colour wear to the driver's bolster, which could easily be recoloured using one of the many products available to do this. The rear seat is also in excellent condition, with no signs of excessive use. The door cards are free from scuffs or scrapes, and the seat adjuster switches are in good condition and working correctly.
The leather dashboard has a walnut trim fascia, which is in lovely condition with no damage. The instrument cluster is clean and scratch-free, and no warning lights are displayed when the engine is running. The odometer has a reading of 18179 miles, extremely low for the Jaguar's age. The centre display screen is the home for all your entertainment, from audio settings to satellite navigation, climate control and vehicle settings. The switchgear and buttons all look to be in excellent condition and working correctly. Further down is the main control dial used to navigate your way through various menus. There is also a USB and iPod port.
The walnut and leather steering wheel is in excellent condition with no real sign of wear to the leather or buttons. These control the cruise control and phone functions, and to the rear are the padel levers for gear changes if that mode is selected.
The carpets are clean and tidy, and a set of Jaguar mats are fitted, which are also in good order. Some light scuffs on the sill trims are typical in a low-seated vehicle. Inside the boot is clean and tidy with no issues to point out.
The Exterior
- Well presented
- Convertible model
- 20” alloy wheels
Finished in the stunning Dark Grey Metallic, the paintwork on the XK Portfolio presents well. There are some odd marks which run down the swage line of the driver’s door. Some other small chips and scuffs were noted on the passenger side corner of the front bumper, and a small blister by the window trim on the passenger door, but this is very minimal.
Starting at the front of the car, the headlights are nice and clean, with no scratches or chips to the plastic lenses. The upper and lower mesh grilles are in good condition with no damage, and the bonnet aligns as it should. Moving further up, the windscreen is free from chips or noticeable scratches.
From the side profile, the XK Convertible is a pretty-looking car. The doors align as you would expect, and there are a couple of light dings on the driver's side, which could possibly be removed by a dent specialist, but obviously, the job would need to be inspected by them first. The roof is in excellent condition, lowering and raising at the touch of a button.
At the rear end, the bumpers have no scuffs, and the lights are free from splits or cracks. Tailpipes on either side emit an incredible sound from the fantastic 5.0 lite V8.
The 20” wheels all look in very good condition, with just a few minor age-related marks around the edge of the rims. The Pirelli P Zero tyres are in good order, with plenty of miles of tread remaining.
The Mechanics
- 5.0 litre V8 produces 380bhp
- Six-speed automatic
- Dynamic suspension
Fitted with the fantastic 5.0 litre V8 engine. The Jaguar has covered just 18179 miles and benefits from a full service history. The car has no issues reported when starting the car or when it is running. The gear change is smooth in automatic mode or using the padel shifters, and the Jag pulls strongly through the gears.
The dynamic suspension offers a fantastic driving experience, reading the rate of body roll 100 times a second, also reading the position of the wheels and adjusting the damper settings 500 times a second. The result is a wonderful handling car capable of being driven enthusiastically or simply enjoy cruising along at a relaxed pace.
The brakes all look in good condition, with no signs of a lip on the edges of the discs. These bring the car to a stop in a straight line, with no juddering through the pedal.
Summary
The 2010 model XK considerably improved over the previous model, with a new 5.0-litre engine that shaved 0.7 seconds off the previous 0-60 time. The handling was also improved with the Jaguar Dynamic suspension; it's a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a luxurious big-engined convertible.
What better time to buy one, too, just as we get into the lovely summer months where you can experience the XK Portfolio in all its glory with the roof dropped and the soundtrack of the 5.0 litre V8 singing in your ears.
