The Appeal

Formed in the late 1970s, Beribo Replica Automobiles (BRA) soon built a reputation building several hundred Cobra 289 replicas. The company was bought by an enthusiast James Mather in 1996, and he continued development of the CV3, a Citroën-based 3-wheeler along the lines of the Morgan SS.

The CV3 was a sales success, with dozens sold to enthusiastic buyers. James and his new business partner David Wiles recognised that there was a market for a four-wheel version of the CV3 for those who wanted a more stable driving experience!  Other projects interfered with development and only a couple of CV4s were built, this being one of them.

Both cars were built by the Beasley Brothers of Nottingham, completed in 2010 using a new galvanised metal chassis, supplied by 2CV City, and the engine and running gear from a low mileage 1989 Citroën 2CV Special.  This example was formerly owned by Eric Beasley himself, who had driven it all over the UK during his ownership.  It was built to an exceptionally high standard, and fully endorsed by James Mather of BRA:

“We only allow BRA badges to be attached to deserving examples and yours is certainly one of those”, he went on to say, “under bonnet detail is exceptional - it’s a beautiful job”.

Lift the rear boot cover and you’ll see where Mr Beasley handwrote all the places he has visited in the CV4, from the Isle of Skye to Devon, and nearly everywhere in between!
