The Appeal
Formed in the late 1970s, Beribo Replica Automobiles (BRA) soon built a reputation building several hundred Cobra 289 replicas. The company was bought by an enthusiast James Mather in 1996, and he continued development of the CV3, a Citroen based 3 wheeler along the lines of the Morgan SS. The CV3 was a sales success, with dozens sold to enthusiastic buyers. James and his new business partner David Wiles recognised that there was a market for a four wheel version of the CV3 for those who wanted a more stable driving experience! Other projects interfered with development and only a couple of CV4s were built, this being one of them.
Both cars were built by the Beasley Brothers of Nottingham, completed in 2010 using a new galvanised metal chassis, supplied by 2CV City, and the engine and running gear from a low mileage 1989 Citroen 2cv Special. This example was purchased by the Seller in September 2019 from Eric Beasley himself, who had driven it all over the UK during his ownership. It was built to an exceptionally high standard, and fully endorsed by James Mather of BRA:
“We only allow BRA badges to be attached to deserving examples and yours is certainly one of those”, he went on to say, “under bonnet detail is exceptional - it’s a beautiful job”.
Lift the rear boot cover and Eric has handwritten all the places he has visited in the CV4, from the Isle of Skye to Devon, and nearly everywhere in between!
Since purchase in 2019 the Seller has driven it occasionally, mostly for local trips. Vendor is currently only selling due to age and the action of getting into and out of a low slung car sports car.

Summary
Being one of just two built, the chances of meeting the other one are slim! Pretty much unique and a whole lot of fun, the Seller tells us that the CV4 is particularly fun to drive. Not just for the waves and smiles but being so light, with aluminium body and light engine, it is exhilarating too. We were very impressed with the quality of the build and finish. The detailing is superb, and the fit of the weather equipment, which let’s be honest isn’t usually a strong point, is faultless.
You won’t find another one, and you couldn’t build a better one!
