The Appeal
The Rapide was the first ever mass-produced four door Aston Martin, but it revived a name long-associated with the company, a name harking back to the extremely rare Lagonda Rapide. Built to combine the dynamism and aesthetic of the firm’s sports cars with the sort of luxury usually associated with Rolls-Royce or Bentley, the new Rapide virtually created its own market sector.
Sales never quite matched the promise, mainly due to the compact rear quarters. But enthusiasts highly prize the 2,872 cars built for the svelte styling and the very high specification.
This Glacial Blue example demonstrates why, its colour combination being particularly compelling. Factory records confirm that this is the only one built with this specification – in fact just two carried this paintwork.
It is an exceptionally low mileage car with full Aston Martin service history and long MOT. It has covered just 240 miles since the last service. The condition could reasonably be described as concours, presenting a fabulous opportunity for enthusiasts of great British saloons.

Rapide production began in May 2010 and this car was amongst the first produced, registered in the UK in August 2010. Factory records confirm that just three Rapides were finished in Glacial Blue like this car, of which only two were sold to customers. This is the only one with this interior and exterior colour combination.
The vendor is the third owner and acquired the car in 2017. It has covered less than 1,000 miles since. It comes with full Aston Martin service history, most recently in July 2022 at 22,852miles.
The Condition
- Rare and attractive Glacial Blue metallic with cream leather interior
- Channels DB9 aesthetics into a high specification four seater with good size boot
- Impeccable, concours-level condition reflects sparing use
- Bi-Xenon headlights and LED tail lights
- 16 speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system
- Cream leather interior with anthracite Alcantara headlining and two-tone wheel
- Leather, veneers and trim in unmarked condition
- Polished 20in Aston Martin rims undamaged and fitted with Bridgestone tyres
- Individual rear seat with cupholders which retain the factory glasses
The Rapide cleverly evolved the DB9 aesthetics into a svelte four seater whose coupe looks are enhanced by discreet door handles. Where the sports car moved towards a high tech interior, the Rapide is much more about natural materials and a pleasing drizzle of veneers.
Factory correspondence confirms that this car is the only one in this colour combination, a particularly compelling blend of Glacial Blue metallic with cream leather. The exterior look is enhanced by polished 20in factory alloys.
Across the bodywork, paintwork, fittings and interior this is a superbly presented car that is arguably close to concours standard. There are few signs of use, even on the oft-trafficked interior surfaces.
The Mechanics
- 5,935cc Aston Martin V12 engine generating 460bhp
- 6spd automatic gearbox with ‘Touchtronic II’ sequential shift functionality
- 0-60mph in 5.2secs
- Full Aston Martin service history
- Most recently serviced in July 2022 just 240 miles ago
The Rapide’s 5.9litre V12 delivers the sort of unruffled, sonorous progress that makes the closely related DB9 as one of the GT cars of the last 20 years.
Any buyer of such a car will likely be looking for impeccable service history. This low mileage car certainly delivers on that score, its run of Aston Martin including attention just 240 miles ago.
The car has been used very sparingly by its owner, a high end car collector.
