The Appeal

The History and Paperwork

• Partial service history with invoices suggesting that it’s been well maintained over the years
• Last serviced on 7th October 2022
• MOT expires on the 5th January 2024
• Acquired by the vendor’s partner on 31st December 2021 from a friend
• The vendor had intended to carry out some refurbishment to the vehicle although a change in circumstances means that it is reluctantly for sale
• We’re informed that it has been used on a few occasions and has been very capable

The Interior

• Black quilted upholstery throughout
• Up front, you find three-abreast seating
• There is minimal wear and no discernable damage to any of the upholstery
• The dash displays minimal wear and we note a Sony infotainment unit has been fitted which we’re informed works well as a radio although the bluetooth function can be troublesome
• The large amplifier in the rear is apparently not connected and never has been during the vendor’s ownership
• The vendor informs us that the heater currently only works on full power
• The fridge works well, as does the two ring gas burner and the bottle is apparently full
• The vendor reports that all the lighting works correctly along with the power sockets which work using the 240V extension lead which plugs in under the bonnet
• A toaster, along with some crockery is also included
• Fold down rock and roll bed in good working order despite the fact one leg has reportedly come adrift 
• A small table is also present and fixes in place using the sliding door
• Overall, the interior presents really well and while a few small repairs would bring it up to a better standard, it’s ready to be used as is should the next owner wish to hit the road right away 

The Exterior 

• Barn doors at the rear and a sliding side door
• There is a fairly new awning but has no support rails currently
• Finished in silver and featuring black VW decals
• Equipped with a towbar, roof rails and a cosmetic spoiler
• The paint has a few imperfections in places and a little surface rust appearing round the arches as well as some dents and scrapes
• We’re informed that the wheel arches appear generally sound and there’s only a little corrosion currently on show
• The gloss black 19” alloy wheels look great on this vehicle but do suffer a little from kerb rash
• We think this generation of T5’s styling has aged really gracefully and it’s hard to believe this is now approaching fourteen years old

The Mechanics 

• Only a 5 speed gearbox despite the gearshift knob denoting six-speed.
• 1.9 TDi engine
• The vendor informs us that this Volkswagen drives really well and they haven’t encountered any faults
• The last cam belt and water pump change was in June 2020 and before that was in May 2016
• Some suspension components were also replaced in June 2020
• The gearbox was rebuilt January 2016 and a new clutch kit was reportedly fitted at the same time
