THE APPEAL

When Land Rover facelifted the L322-Series Range Rover for the 2010 model year, it threw everything it had at what was already the finest luxury 4x4xfar. 
Not content with lording it over the rest of the vehicles on the road with the grand and stately original, the mid-life tweaks gave the L322 a new face, a vastly improved cabin and – most significantly – an all-new engine range, banishing the old BMW powertrains to the past and instead using the recently cojoined Jaguar Land Rover’s own units – a 3.0-litre diesel and a stupendous 5.0-litre V8, which was fitted to the top models in the range. 
This one is as indulgent as they got – not only is it a V8, but it’s also the 503bhp supercharged model (thank you, Jaguar…) and is equipped in Autobiography specification – essentially a bespoke menu of options from which prosperous customers could throw as much money as they wanted to towards. In this case, such additions as a full leather headlining and 360-degree surround camera system were among the boxes ticked, with Autobiography-only two-tone leather trim. 
When new, it would have tipped the scales at comfortably more than £100,000. Today, it’s yours for a much smaller amount, perhaps closer to what its original owner spent on options, if the monumental spec list is anything to go by. It’s a hell of a car.

SUMMARY

The L322 Range Rover was a world-beater when it first came out and evolved to be something even quicker, stronger, more luxurious and even more desirable as it got older. It was, for the entirety of its production run, the best luxury SUV in the world. That made it hugely desirable then and it means it’s still equally desirable now. 
This on, in particular, will have masses of appeal for fans of the model – a truly superb and sumptuously appointed version that was absolutely as good as an L322 could be, with a howling supercharged powertrain, incredible performance and a to-die-for soundtrack. It’s a wonderful machine, as good as a Range Rover of its era gets. And that means it’s very good indeed.
