Highlights
• Good service history
• Sports exhaust
• 7-speed PDK Automatic
• Targa electric roof
• Four-wheel drive
• Low miles
• Number plate included
The Appeal
The 997 Gen 2 Targa 4 just has everything going for it, with coupe or open top motoring available at the push of a button and all the performance and extra grip and security provided by the permanent 4-wheel drive system.
The 997 Targa has a few other tricks up its sleeve too - softer spring rates geared more for comfort, an extended leather interior and a clever rear window set-up that opens up like a hatchback.
Not to mention, it’s also an incarnation of the Porsche 911, one of the world’s greatest ever sports cars.
The History and Paperwork
• First registered in 2009
• Service history
• V5c present
• Current owner last 8 years
• Recorded as Cat D in 2013
• Owner’s wallet with manuals
• Two sets of keys
• Current MOT expires 24 November 2022
The current owner bought the car in 2015 knowing that it had been declared a Cat D, but the car had been professionally repaired and he has no details of what the original damage had been.
To look at the car you can’t tell and in 8 years it’s driven and performed in the way you’d expect it to with no problems at all.
The Interior
• Sand Beige full leather interior
• Air conditioning
• Targa roof and blind
• Electric heated memory seats
Comfortable and supportive seats covered in perforated leather and clear dials and instruments aplenty you have to admit that Porsche do put the 911 cabin together extremely well, which makes it always a great place to be.
With an unfortunate water stain on one of the rear seat bases caused by a leaky flask and a scuff on one of the seats the interior is in great condition throughout with everything reported to be working fully and correctly, including the all-important electric blind and sliding Targa glass roof.
The Exterior
• Fabulous colour and road presence
• Wider body than the standard 997
• Good all-round condition
The 997 Targa 4 has a slightly wider body than the standard 997 and, combined with the car’s Malachite Green Metallic paintwork looks all the meaner and better for it, sitting on nice alloy wheels it really does look the business.
There are a couple of stone chips at the front which could do with some attention, there’s a light scratch on the rear bumper that would probably polish out and the wheels have picked up quite a few kerbing scratches in their time but otherwise there’s nothing else of concern.
The Mechanics
• Service history
• 3.6 Litre
• Regularly serviced
• Only 13,000 miles covered over the last 8 years
One of many cars owned the car has been garaged, with regular oil changes and MOTs, but has been used less frequently during the last couple of years, which is why it is being auctioned.
Apart from an incorrect headlamp warning that pops up occasionally the car is reported to be in good all round health and condition.
The Summary
Porsche power, refinery and a particularly unusual colour combination...there is no substitute.
