The Appeal
Maserati’s Quattroporte was created to beat Mercedes-Benz at its own game but it took until the fifth generation to launch a credible alternative to the cars from Germany.
Where previous generations had been distinctive and hand-built, the V combined visceral performance – thanks to an engine developed by Ferrari – with a highly bespoke approach to luxury. The S model borrowed the 4.7litre engine from the F430 to give buyers a proper four door sports car.
This smart 2009 facelift model is a low mileage car with a tasteful specification, including very attractive veneer interior highlights. There is a thick history file and a long, advisory-free MOT to confirm the condition.
