The Appeal
The perennial workhorse of the British firm's range, it fulfilled the need for a commercial vehicle, farm tool, and an all-round off-road unstoppable force when the going got tough. It remained in production for nearly 70 years, but it continued to reign in the order books for good reason; it was unbelievably capable off-road, and unquestionably dependable. Although it may be outclassed by modern SUV’s when it comes to comfort and daily drivability, none have really come close to emulating its off-road prowess.
This example has been lovingly cared for and fitted with some tasteful parts inside and out, enhancing the driving experience and making this Defender a touch above the rest. Outfitted with some rugged all-terrain tyres, this pick-up is ripe and ready to get off the beaten track.
The History and Paperwork
- Originally registered on the 31st of December 2009
- V5C present and in the current owners name
- Latest MOT was carried out on the 11th of April 2024 and passed with a single advisory for nearside seat belt webbing slightly fraying
- Previous MOT’s do show some failures over the years but they are always promptly rectified, none of these failures raise any concern, just normal wear and tear
- Originally painted in LRC817 Tamar Blue, the vehicle has undergone a professional respray in iconic Keswick Green
The Condition
- Handsomely presented Keswick Green paintwork appears in well maintained condition with no signs of damage throughout
- Gloss black painted accents throughout the vehicle are also well maintained
- KBX front light surrounds and front grill
- Upgraded front headlamps as well as LED sidelights and turn signals
- Panel gaps all appear to remain of factory fitment
- Body panels all appear straight and true with no damage present
- Side steps show signs of wear as to be completely expected
- Rear lower bumper does show some light signs of corrosion coming through, but nothing worrying
- Interior has been retrimmed in black leather with green diamond stitching to match the exterior of the vehicle
- Momo Tuner three-spoke leather steering wheel fitted
- Green seat belts fitted to match vehicle exterior
- Centre console colour-matched and fitted with a Pioneer head unit
- All switchgear reportedly remains functional as does the instrument cluster
- All four wheels are in handsome condition with good paintwork, and the beefy BFGoodrich All-Terrains have plenty of life left in them
As far as Defenders go, this one is a bit of a looker. Sporting the well-loved Keswick Green paintwork and contrasting gloss black accents, it’s difficult not to snap your neck as you double-take when it glides past. Well loved evidently!
The Mechanics
- 2.4-litre turbocharged diesel engine, reported to remain in excellent mechanical condition with no unwelcome noises or struggles upon start-up
- Manual transmission also reported to be in good health, with no grinding or whining when sailing through the gears
- Brakes are reported to remain in good condition with good stopping power
- Steering and suspension we’re told is in good health, with good feedback through the wheel (slightly dampened by the A/T tyres) and no unwelcome knocks or bangs through the suspension components
- MOT history shows that any fails are quickly put right, indicating a no-expense-spared ownership
