The Appeal

The fifth generation of Ford’s pony car returned the potency and aesthetics beloved of the Mustang’s innumerable enthusiasts. Rear wheel drive and a potent V8 mix with some classic design cues to create a car as evocative as it is entertaining.

This smart Performance White 2009 GT 4.6L V8 spent its life in Japan before being imported by the seller to the UK in January 2025. The result is a car in a remarkable state of preservation - we are told that the interior still smells ‘factory fresh.’ The condition certainly reflects Japan’s salt-free roads, a point underlined by the advisory-free MOT to June 2025. A raft of Japanese history documents supports the sense of a well kept car available for this model and adds greatly to the ownership experience.

Alongside the condition, this is a desirable model with a compelling specification. It is one of the limited edition 45th Anniversary models and was factory fitted with the ultra-rare ‘Glass Roof’ panoramic roof option that was available for this model.

This well specified and carefully preserved car is factory standard save for an Apple CarPlay/Andriod head unit inside. For enthusiasts of the sort of V8 coupe Ford is unlikely to make again, this is tempting.

The vendor tells us:

“The Mustang has clearly been cherished, probably garaged and evidently lightly used, with superb and original factory paintwork showing only a handful of tiny chips if you go looking. Inside the black Premium leather is practically unmarked and shows no creasing of the seats. It would be quite a challenge to find another Mustang in this condition (let alone with the Glass Roof option) as Japan is well-known for its high maintenance regime, which combined with a meticulous approach to enthusiast ownership is reflected in this car. It is in original condition right down to the factory exhaust so has not been raced around, with the underside also being superb with no rust or corrosion to be found.

“Factory equipment includes sun protection coating for the panoramic roof (with manually-operated blind), ice-cold air-conditioning, cruise control, electric powered front seats with drivers lumbar support, electric windows, heated rear window, Shaker 500 sound system, fold-down rear seats for practicality and an unused spare wheel sitting in the trunk. Other features are the UK-fitted touch-screen stereo/SatNav with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto.”
