2009 Bentley Brooklands

Highlights

  • Full Bentley service history
  • All the luxury you would expect in a powerful coupé
  • In fantastic condition inside and out

The Appeal

Imposing, impressive and with a huge road presence, the Bentley Brooklands Coupé looks particularly arresting with its side windows down, showing off its pillarless design to the full.
Bentley Motors only ever intended to produce 550 Brooklands Coupés. However,  given the state of the global economy in 2008 when it was launched, it’s believed that this limit was never reached.
Closely related to the convertible Bentley Azure, this model is powered by Bentley’s 6¾-litre V8. This engine kicks out a whopping 530bhp and produced more torque than any of its contemporaries.
Boasting a full service history and remaining in excellent overall condition, this Brooklands Coupé  is a rare, hand built slice of luxurious elegance.

The Interior

  • Portland quilted leather, piped in Anthracite
  • Hand stitched leather headlining
  • Naim premium sound system with DVD player and digital TV tuner
The interior of a Bentley Brooklands is a wonderful place to be.

It is a testament to the skill and patience of the artisans who crafted such an exquisite interior, using only the finest materials and the most skilful techniques.
Dark stained Burr Walnut extends to the waistrails with their inset marque badges and cream dials as specified on the original order form. The Portland leather of the seats and interior trim is sumptuously quilted, with Anthracite coloured piping.
The fully adjustable front seats and reclining rear seats are all heated. Rear passengers even have their own separate door handles, while the front seats have a soothing massage function.

The leather of the seats shows very little wear all round, only a couple of inches of stitching on the driver’s seat have come loose. In addition to this overt luxury, the car’s sporting pedigree is shown by its drilled aluminium pedals.
The carpets remain in almost new condition and the leather of the headlining is beautifully unblemished.
This is a no smoking car, evidenced by the factory conversion of the ashtray into a leather lined trinket box and the relocation of the cigarette lighter/12V power socket to the glovebox.
Sometimes the satellite navigation screen doesn’t always go down smoothly when turning off the ignition – this probably just requires a little adjustment and lubrication.

The current owner tends to leave it up to take full advantage of the rear view camera. Front and rear parking sensors are also fitted.
Inside the well-proportioned boot can be found a brace of Bentley Umbrellas. And under thee floor are the twin batteries, spare wheel and Bentley tool kit.

The Exterior

  • Elegant pillarless coupe design
  • Anthracite Grey paintwork in superb condition
  • 20 inch alloy wheels
The Anthracite Grey of this car’s paintwork is an excellently understated colour and its fantastic condition shows how well this car has been cared for.
The pillarless construction of the body allows for a sleek appearance with the windows down and gives an air of sophisticated good taste to the vehicle.
The vendor states that there are a couple of tiny stone chips on the front panel and another on the windscreen. Otherwise, the bodywork is all in excellent condition.
With the windows down to show off the pillarless design, this is a fabulous looking car. Presented in Anthracite Grey, it’s also in great condition and a tribute to its former owners.
The 20” wheels exhibit only a couple of small marks, but are in fantastic overall condition. The tyres all show good tread, the rears have recently been replaced with new matching Pirellis.
A good example of the thought that went into this car is the neat factory-fitted installation of a magnetic connector which allows the attachment of a trickle charger without having to leave the boot open.

Bentley’s engineers thought of everything.

The Mechanics

  • 6¾-litre twin turbocharged V8 produces 530bhp
  • Six speed automatic with Tiptronic
  • 0-60 mph in 5 seconds, 183 mph top speed
The engine bay is beautifully clean, with the engine cover cut away to show a hint of the V8 hidden below.

The engine carries a plaque with the signature of the inspector who signed off the car above the ‘6¾ litre Brooklands’ title.
On the road, the vendor states that the car drives beautifully as you would expect, and that the ride is still supreme. When asked, it unleashes all 530 horses and 1050Nms of torque, with just enough of a throaty exhaust note for the V8 rumble to be heard inside.

For cross country roads, there’s a sport button to firm up the suspension a tad and sharpen turn-in. There is a tyre pressure warning light on the dashboard, which has been diagnosed as a faulty module but a new unit is on order from the factory.
The automatic gearbox is said to change smoothly. By sliding the gear lever to the side, the driver is able to engage sport mode which allows the gears to be selected manually using the Tiptronic function.
The suspension remains quiet and rattle-free and the seller reports that the drivetrain is reassuringly quiet, while the brakes remain in excellent order.
This is a car which wants for nothing and will continue give many miles of enjoyment to its next custodian.

Summary

The exquisite craftsmanship on display in this beautiful pillarless coupé matches the fine engineering of the car's V8 power plant.

Well maintained and cared for by the previous owner, this powerful machine will easily transport you across continents with that typical Bentley flair.
