The Appeal

To whet your appetite for this Vauxhall rarity we’ll hand over to none other than CAR magazine. Their contemporary review praised “the more fluid ride with sensational grip and traction levels and more precise steering than the standard VXR.” That’s the standard model that the same reviewers called “excellent.”

Where some special editions are badge-engineered showroom tinsel, the VXR Nurburgring is a properly reworked car that is both more powerful - power is up 15bhp - and better to drive than the car it is based on. It cost £1,500 more than the standard VXR and changes included lighter wheels, tuned Remus exhaust and an array of badging and trim features. Much of that work was by Triple Eight, Vauxhall’s contemporary BTCC racing team.

These are rare car s- just 835 were built - Its two keepers have clearly looked after it, keeping the mileage below 60,000 miles and regularly servicing it, primarily with Vauxhall main dealers.

The result is a car in very good order that retains its raft of bespoke special edition features. Once equipped with a fresh MOT this scintillating hot hatch will be ready to enjoy.
