- 6.2L V8 AMG M156 engine
- Low mileage
- Low tax bracket (£280 per year)

The Background

Renowned for being the fastest naturally aspirated SUV in the world upon release, the ML63 AMG was brought to life by Mercedes to make a statement. Introduced in 2006 at the North American International Auto Show as a limited edition model, featuring a behemoth 6.2L V8 engine producing an astounding 510PS and 465lb-ft and capable of accelerating from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds thanks to its AMG Speedshift 7G-Tonic gearbox, this car really did get automakers talking.
The AMG division of Mercedes takes great pride in everything they build and are very well known for their hand-built, stamped and signed engines. Each engine is individually manufactured by hand, by a single individual and a signed plaque attached to each unit from the engineer who assembled it with great care and precision. “One man, one engine”.

The History

This ML63 AMG was imported from Tokyo, Japan in late 2020 and was registered here in the UK in January 2021. Thanks to the beautifully clean Japanese roads this car has seen throughout its entire lifetime, the underside shows barely any signs of age and the engine bay appears pristine. This is all thanks to the lack of salt on Japanese roads in winters, which helps preserve cars for decades. Japanese imported cars have become more and more popular with car enthusiasts for this exact reason, older cars can be brought over without the fear of rust or corrosion, even cars from the 80’s and 90’s can be showroom clean when imported.
Due to this vehicle being imported, there isn’t very much history around it, which is the case for the vast majority of cars brought from overseas. However, thanks to the low mileage, and the beautiful condition inside and out, we can assume this car had been well pampered while it was in Tokyo. After entering the UK, the owner had the car completely looked over by his very well respected mechanic and had the car serviced - since then it has only done approximately 1500 miles this year.

The Paperwork

This vehicle was imported by the vendor directly from Japan where it was graded a very respectable 4B in terms of condition. A further testament to its condition, upon the first service here in the UK  the owner tells us that the oil was golden upon draining it showing no signs of dirt or fuel.
The V5 is available - the buyer should note that the registration on the vehicle will NOT be sold with the car and will be removed prior to sale and returned to the original registration number which the car received upon entering the UK.
It should also be noted that only one key is available for the vehicle at this moment in time.

The Interior

The interior is one which is hard to pick any flaws with. All of the seats are in great condition with only the normal wear on leather as you always see with minor creasing, but no signs of tears or stretching. All of the stitching throughout the seats is still intact. The alcantara upper sections of the seats show no signs of matting  which is a great sign of the interior being cared for after this length of time. The rear sets are very much the same, looking very rarely used, and the incorporated armrest and cup holder still functions flawlessly.
This vehicle is a technology masterpiece for its age, at a time where cars were still improving things like reversing cameras and parking sensors, Mercedes decided to kit out the ML to ride with the best of them. Fully electric front seats, multi-zone climate control, factory-fitted DVD player, automatic tailgate opening/closing, illuminated kick-plates, high end Harman Kardon sound system, etc etc.. The list goes on and on.
All of the door-cards are in great shape with all of the wooden trim pieces looking fantastic with high levels of gloss, door speaker grills are all intact, all of the power windows function as they should, too. Gauges and displays work normally both on the dashboard and on the centre console. The centre console includes an aftermarket Japanese Panasonic head unit which does speak Japanese to you when you start the car for the first time - not an uncommon feature for a Japanese domestic vehicle!
In the boot, this AMG still has an unused space-saver spare wheel as well as the tow bar and wheel bolt wrench, it also includes the original First Aid kit in the side panel as well as a 12V output socket for any of your needs. You will notice in the pictures that the metal plates within the boot still have the factory blue protective plastic over them… This shows you how little this car has actually been used!
The only flaws to pick from this luxurious interior would be the buttons on the steering wheel and the surround around the light switch have degraded over time, which is typical for the type of soft-touch plastic that it used to be. This can generally be fixed with cleaning which the owner has tried to do previously, however this resulted in some paint being removed from the right side minus button, visible in the images. Another is the stitching on the steering wheel leather has come slightly loose on the inside, it does not affect the steering wheel in any way however apart.

The Exterior

The outside is as fantastic as the inside. All four wheels are in beautiful condition with only one very small stone chip on the rear passenger side wheel, which had to actually be pointed out to us for us to notice it! All the arches are in good condition with seemingly no signs of rust thanks to the cars' Japanese past. All of the windows are crack-free, as are the lenses for both the front and back light and fog lights.
The paintwork looks to be in exceptional condition too with very straight and true body panels, identifying no signs of any damage throughout the car. It truly is a beautifully kept and cared for SUV! The engine bay is seemingly spotless, all of the clips and bolts look almost brand new and all of the plastics show no signs of degradation or damage, the same can be said with all of the protective covering on the wires.
The only bad part to the exterior to note is that the trim pieces under the windows are showing signs of lacquer peel on both the driver side and passenger side. Apart from that, this is one beautiful piece of luxury inside and out!

The Mechanics

Sheer luxury. This ML63 rides like it’s on clouds, beautifully refined, quiet, and comfortable. The adaptive suspension on the car allows you to choose between a responsive sport setting or a more cushioned comfort mode. Whatever you prefer, this car will not disappoint you. Along with the adaptive suspension selections, the car allows you ro raise the vehicle with the touch of a button allowing for more ground clearance thanks to its factory air suspension.
The massive V8 in front of the dashboard propels the vehicle with ease, and really sinks you back into the seat when you press the accelerator into the carpet showcasing all of its 510bhp. Definitely a surprising feeling in such a large car, but loads of fun! The 7-speed automatic gearbox shifts seamlessly as it should, adding to the lavish overall feel of the car. No unwelcoming noises come from the vehicle while idling or while in motion, no knocks or bangs we could hear while driving and the brakes function perfectly well thanks to those massive brakes under the 21” wheels!

The Appeal

There’s something just inexplicably cool about fast SUV’s, and with one that held the title for the worlds fastest naturally aspirated at one point in its life, this is definitely among the best. Blistering road-going performance wrapped in an absolutely lavish casing, as well as the fantastic usability, it doesn’t leave much to be desired. The ultimate family car with immense towing capacity puts this beautiful SUV in a class of its own.
