The Appeal
As enthusiasts know, what BMW starts, Alpina has an extensive track record of completing. Which is saying something considering the parade of brilliant cars that have emerged from the Munich factory.
The B7 is Alpina’s take on the firm’s executive 7-Series. Each car begins on the BMW line but is finished by Alpina, which focusses on blending comfort with performance. The E65-based B7 takes its starting point as the 745i and adds mechanical fettling, including supercharging, alongside some choice trim enhancements to deliver a 493bhp behemoth that is lighter, nimbler, faster and altogether more bespoke and special than a 760.
Only a handful of E65/66-based B7s were built between 2004 and 2008. Of those very few were LWB B7L E66-based cars like this one. Of those, the vendor reports, just two were RHD and one of those has been destroyed.
All of which makes this stunning B7L highly compelling. Then there is the specification, which is best described as ‘opulent.’ In excellent, low mileage condition with FSH and long MOT, this Japanese import car has just been released from a UK Alpina collection. This is a likely unrepeatedable opportunity for lovers of super saloons.
