2007 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG

Highlights

  • Ultimate luxury saloon with super car performance
  • Extensive factory specification
  • AMG styling pack

The Background

The Mercedes-Benz S Class has long been a benchmark luxury saloon and, when combined with the efforts of AMG, it provides an almost unique combination of style, comfort, luxury and performance.

The S63 will sprint from 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and produces 518bhp with 465 lb-ft of torque, rear wheel drive and a seven speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts which all make for near supercar performance in a subtle looking saloon car.

The History

The current owner is an avid car collector who wanted to have the AMG model to go with his S600 limousine.

Since acquiring the car, the seller has had the four split-rim alloys refurbished and wrapped in a fresh set of Pirelli P Zero tyres.

The car is accompanied by two keys and a full set of owner’s manuals, including a fully stamped service book which shows a mix of main dealer and independent servicing. It was last serviced in August 2021 at 70,815 miles.

The V5 is present and the current MOT, which has no advisories, expires on 30 June 2022.

The Interior

Finished in grey Nappa leather, the interior is just as luxurious and cosseting as you would expect of the Mercedes range-topping model. The extensive factory specification includes DVD, 6 disc CD changer, satellite navigation, an in-car telephone and heated seats in the front and rear.
The leather is in very good condition, with only a little light creasing on the driver's seat and a small tear on the passenger side rear door armrest. There’s also some light wear on the steering wheel buttons and the pocket on the rear of the driver’s seat has come adrift slightly but there’s nothing that detracts from the overall ambience.
Importantly, all of the extensive set of equipment is said to be fully operational, including the electric tilt and slide sunroof and the wood trim is free from marks or scratches. Overall, the cabin is in very good condition throughout.

The Exterior

The Iridium Silver metallic paintwork suits the car perfectly and with the AMG bodykit, it is a great combination of subtlety and aggression.
The paintwork is all in good order aside from the near side rear door which has at some stage been painted and in certain lights you can see that the colour match isn’t quite perfect. There are a few light stone chips around the front end, but nothing that stands out unless you are close up to the car.
The glass is all in good order and this car also has the rear privacy glass option. The wheels were recently refurbished by respected wheel refurbisher Spit and Polish in Kent and remain pristine, with Pirelli P Zero tyres that have covered fewer than 1000 miles.
Overall, it’s a great looking car.

The Mechanics

The engine bay is very tidy and the car starts with a suitably rumbly soundtrack. On a ten mile test ride during the photography shoot, it drove without fault and displayed both sides of its sporting limo character, accelerating strongly when asked and riding comfortably when not pressing on. Mechanically, it’s ready to go.

The Appeal

The S63 AMG is a highly capable and respected performance saloon. The V8 engine reminds you that you are in an exceedingly quick car, but take your foot off the throttle and you're in one of the world’s most comfortable cars.
With fifteen years of depreciation taken care of this represents a huge amount of car for the money and, with low mileage and a great specification, this example is a great way to experience the high life. Get your bid in now.
