The Background

The Gransport was a luxury grand tourer, produced between 2004-2007 by Italian auto manufacturer Maserati. A Sportier version of the company's prior models simply called the Coupé or 3200 & 4200, the model brought improved aerodynamics, retuned suspension, engine, transmission and sportier interior.

Operated under the auspices of Ferrari, the car was propelled by a prancing horse developed 4.2L V8, which combined with its 6 speed Cambiocorsa paddle shift transmission meant 0 - 60mph became less than 5 seconds away. A total of 2,613 Gransports were produced in the 4 year period with only 158 now rumoured to be left in the UK.

The History

This sublime car started life as a demonstration/pre-registered vehicle for the highly renowned Maserati dealer, Maranello. Registered in January 2007 this car was specified and ordered by Maranello’s head of business, a particularly thought out vehicle due to it being one of the last Gransports available to be built.

The vehicle was purchased a month after registration by a woman Dr as a 40th birthday present to herself who claimed 14 years of enjoyment before coming into the current ownership of business owner and enthusiast. Spending almost its entire existence in beautiful Surrey the car has been cared for zealously, with the same Maserati Master Technician being responsible for all its care and maintenance.

Quality both inside and out, this car is a very fine example, if not the finest currently on the market, a real tribute to the lengths the previous and current owners have gone to keep this car in such prestigious order.

The Paperwork

Included with the car is a substantial amount of paperwork, a briefcase, yes a briefcase full! MOT history, countless invoices for mechanical work by Maranello and later Hepworth Garage are present alongside Manufacture handbooks, guides and service records. In addition, original bill of sale, Gransport brochure and colour chart are all included. MOT valid until 21st February 2023.

The Exterior

Finished in factory Blu Nettuno, this Italian tourer car can only be best described as simply superb. The car has been zealously looked after and it shows. From bumper to bumper, mirror to mirror the car is in fabulous order, with only the smallest of paint blemishes to the roof.

The 19’’ alloys are unscathed, tyres fresh, even the red brake callipers tucked behind look spotless, this is a very fine example of a very fine vehicle. Under the bonnet things are just as pristine, not a spec of dirt, grease or dust to be seen, the engine oil was even exceptional, a true testament to its treatment over the years.

The Interior

Inside, the car is just as magnificent as it is out, a combination of Avorio and Blue Navy is present, a suitable pairing for the blue exterior. The incorporation of Carbon Fibre on the steering wheel, centre console and dash is a subtle reminder that this luxury tourer is capable of much more than a gentle drive through the countryside.

Everything operates as it should, with no ‘sticky’ buttons, in fact there’s very little signs of use, incredible for a 14 year old car. There’s tons of small quality details, such as the rubber door seals being in almost factory new condition and the aftermarket radio being specifically chosen to have the same colour back lights as the rest of the car to ensure as close to OEM look as possible.

Unquestionably, this car is aesthetically and functionally outstanding.

The Mechanics

The car started on the button, and let out a beautiful note and grunty burble, these cars are specially tuned to growl and give full throttle on start up, a nice touch to ensure every time you press the start button an unavoidable smirk follows. The car has been maintained by Maranello and later Hepworth garage, following the same Master Technician who has been the sole maintainer of this vehicle, a quite charming attribute.

It has had a no compromise life, anything that was required was done correctly, no matter the cost, by the experts, which has kept it performing perfectly.

The Appeal

Appearance, performance and character, the Gransport has it all. It's one of those cars that makes you feel special, it’s ferocious, intelligent and quirky, everything a lovable car should be.

A great addition for someone looking for that Sunday morning special something.
