The Appeal
Originally developed under Geoff Lawson, the XK was to be the replacement for the long-lived XJS - which in turn had replaced the E-Type back in 1975. This then was a long and illustrious line of grand tourers. In short, the XK had big shoes to fill. But fill them it did and you might say it had outgrown them by the time the Ian Callum-designed second generation came along in 2006. The X150 was a terrific car, featuring an innovative bonded/riveted aluminium chassis and wonderful styling that mixed the best of the old with the best of the new. There was a range of brilliant powertrains to choose from and all had ZF's fantastic six-speed automatic gearbox.
This 4.2-litre example has just 64,900 miles under its belt and the vendor informs us it benefits from full service history from main dealers and marque specialists. Presented in superb condition for its age and offered with an advisory-free MOT, it's ready to be enjoyed by a new custodian.
When as to describe how it drives, the vendor answered:
"Absolutely brilliant. The engine is a sweet as a nut and pulls effortlessly. There are no tracking issues and the brakes pull firmly, completely straight and with no judder. It is a joy to drive."
