The Appeal

Take the V12 6L engine from the Enzo. Drizzle it in some of Pininfarina’s most beautiful panelwork. Result: one of the greatest front-engined Ferraris of the modern era. The elegantly named 599 GTB Fiorano - named after the firm’s test track - is luxury GT and blisteringly, viscerally exciting supercar.

Finished in handsome, understated black, with a lovely Burgundy Daytona leather-trimmed cabin, this 2007 500GTB is an exceptionally low mileage example - just 22,449 miles - that has been part of the current keeper’s small Ferrari collection since 2014. The maintenance history is impressive, the diminutive mileage contrasting with the generous run of 10 service stamps to 20,375 miles. A minor service was undertaken in June 2022. Ferrari main dealers or renowned specialists have conducted the work.

The car is fitted with the popular ‘F1 Superfast’ 6spd semi-automatic gearbox, a unit that suits the car’s twin characters of cossetting GT and engaging supercar. The condition inside and out is very good with few signs of use and age and pleasingly factory standard. Only an iPad connection alters things from how it left the factory in 2007.

Reviewers and enthusiasts consider the ‘Type F141’ 599GTB to be one of the best front-engined Ferraris ever built. Good ones appeal to collectors. With its provenance, specification and long, advisory-free MOT, this one definitely meets that high bar.

Pininfarina’s design for the 599 was thoroughly modern, but with a firm nod to history and icons like the Daytona. The lines suit the black of this car, which offers an understated style that is arguably more in keeping with the 599’s demeanour than classic Rosso Red. Yet there is a nod to that history inside where you’ll find a very attractive Burgundy Daytona leather cabin.

Inside and out it is in very good order, as you would likely expect of such a low mileage, well maintained car. Everything is there, including the Ferrari stereo, tan leather tool case and black leather tyre kit. This is a car that treats the eyes as much as it entertains from the driver’s seat.

It has the 610bhp V12 engine from the Enzo. Is there really any more information you need about the 599GTB’s mechanicals? This is a viscerally exciting and quick car, one that wowed contemporary reviewers and has been entertaining owners ever since it was launched in 2007. Considering that both groups have likely driven or owned several Ferraris, that is quite an achievement.

Most 599s were factory-supplied like this one with the clever ‘F1 Superfast’ semi-automatic gearbox, a transmission style now adopted by most modern Ferrari buyers. It suits the car’s character, capable of transforming it from a louche GT to sharp supercar at the flick of a button.

With such a technologically sophisticated car, you want the reassurance of good maintenance. This car has been carefully curated throughout its life, the current keeper arranging annual servicing - virtually on the same day every year - irrespective of the tiny mileage. Other work has been attended to as required and is detailed above. The geometry, PIS setting and lights were checked in August 2022. A minor service occurred at the same time. More recently the brakes and clutch have been checked and show plenty of remaining use as shown in photographs.

The car is reported to have no issues and therefore is ready to use by the buyer. That position is supported by the current MOT which shows no mechanical or running gear advisories.
