2007 Bentley Continental GTC

Highlights

  • Great service history
  • Stored in a heated garage when not in use
  • Gorgeous specification
  • Low mileage example

The Appeal

First presented in 2005, the Continental GTC was the convertible variant of the earlier and much loved GT, and it hit the markets in autumn of 2006 to steal the hearts of those chasing the ultimate top-down opulence. Fitted with the same powertrain of the earlier GT, a whopping 6.0 twin turbo W12, it’s certainly no slouch and is enough to get the hairs standing on the back of your neck when you’re seeking some thrill.
The GTC is an undeniably pretty car, even after creeping up to nearly 20 years after we first saw one unveiled, its styling has barely aged a day - and the impressive looks don’t stop on the outside, either. The interior is among the best quality you can get your hands on, using the finest materials with hand crafted walnut trims and a Breitling clock front and centre.
This particular example has been well cared for with no real regard to money, servicing has been kept on top of and the car has been kept in a heated garage when not in use, and has only been used on lovely dry, sunny days in the current ownership. You can’t get a better Sunday car than this.

The Interior

  • Cream and navy leather interior
  • Hand crafted wooden walnut trims
  • 6 disc CD changer and navigation system
  • Carpets all present and in good shape, light discolouring on the mats
  • Bentley embossed sill plates
  • Brightwork all in fabulous condition
  • Seats all in fantastic shape, light wear on the drivers bolsters
  • Electric and memory front heated seats
  • Door cards in lovely shape with walnut trim
Opulence is one way to describe it - and even at that, it may be slightly underselling it. Of course, Bentley are renowned for their lavish interior fit for ferrying royalty, and even as the years have passed, that level of pure luxury hasn’t faded an ounce.
Finished in a gorgeous cream and navy leather combination, with dark wooden hand crafted walnut dash and door card trims, as soon as you open the door, or even peek through the glass, you know you’re in the presence of something special. The front seats are presented wonderfully, stitching remains completely intact and the leather appears to have retained its colour very well over the years, the driver seat does however exhibit some wear on the driver side bolsters as expected of any vehicle.
Sitting in the oh-so-comfortable drivers seat, the two-tone steering wheel is presented directly in front of you in lovely condition, the Bentley logo standing out like a piece of jewellery - all of the stitching here remains intact and the multifunction buttons remain operational and easy to read with no worn off text. Just behind the steering wheel, the gauges present themselves surrounded in wooden trim and showcase no unwanted or unwelcome warning signs upon starting the vehicle, and the LCD screen in the middle still functions perfectly.
Moving across to the centre console, the navy leather cascades down both sides encompassing the wooden trim, housing the multimedia interface and control switches, all of which function as they should. A Breitling clock sits atop everything here as an added dash of extravagance - it feels like everything you touch across this interior has a metallic or mechanical feel, and that in itself is such a satisfying tactile experience.
Floor carpets are all present and well kept, however the removable mats do show some signs of colour transfer and wear - although we’d be surprised if they didn’t, keeping cream carpets in tip top condition can be no small task. Moving into the rear of the vehicle, the seats back here don’t look like they have seen much use at all, but this is common of many vehicles of this calibre.
Overall, this a stunning and well kept GTC, worthy of gazing eyes and all of the “oooooh”s that it receives as it whooshes by pedestrians. Truly, this is about as good as it gets!

The Exterior

  • Moonbeam silver paintwork
  • Original 19” 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Gorgeous brightwork
  • Navy soft-top in lovely condition
  • Body panels all straight and true with factory panel gaps
  • Front and rear lights in fantastic condition
  • Bentley badges present and original
  • Gentle paint chipping in the arch seams
Nothing short of iconic. Arguably the best looking Bentley on sale at the time of its release, sporting wide rear haunches and wide tail pipes, and a very subtle boot spoiler all pointed towards its impressive power and commanded fantastic road presence. Not much has changed in terms of road presence over the years - it’s quite hard to believe that some of the earlier models of these beautiful land-yachts are creeping up to two decades old.
Starting at the front of the vehicle we’re greeted with that iconic and all-famous front wide mouth grill finished in very well kept brightwork, with the Bentley badge sitting just above it like a crowned jewel. All front headlights appear to be in good condition with no signs of any cracks or damage and no signs of any water ingress either, and the paintwork up front is in quite nice shape too with the usual small stone chips, but no unwelcome scratches or scathes that would catch the eye.
Moving around to the side of the vehicle, all four wheels appear to be in very good shape with only very minor blemishes on the driver side rear wheel that you really have to be up close and personal with to notice, and a small similar blemish on the passenger side rear wheel too. All four tyres are shod in Pirelli rubber which appear to have a good amount of meat left on them, too. Paintwork along the sides of the vehicle is well presented with no unwanted scratches or seemingly any car park dings - mostly thanks to the careful ownerships over the years - there does appear to be some light paint chipping forming on the rear inner arch seams, but this is a seriously high wear area on any vehicle and is almost always the first place to inherit stone chipping.
To the rear of the Continental, the wide and instantly recognisable rear exhaust tips grab our attention, letting fellow motorists know they’re in the presence of some serious earth moving power. Rear lights appear to be in great condition showing great levels of clarity and no signs of any damage or water ingress, and the paintwork back here is in commendable condition too.
The retractable roof is in good condition with no rips or tears, and all of the stitching appears to be intact, and it remains fully functional and also keeps the moisture out as you’d expect. It could maybe benefit from a deep clean to get rid of some of the very gentle stains and marks, but really nothing to pick at here.
Overall, this Continental is in gorgeous shape with only the lightest signs of some required TLC. We don’t think there’s a much classier colour than this, either, it absolutely oozes style from all angles unapologetically.

The Mechanics

  • 6.0L W12 Twin Turbo
  • 6-speed Automatic transmission
  • Four wheel-drive configuration
  • 552bhp, 479lb-ft of torque
  • 0-60 in a staggering 4.8 seconds
  • Thorough inspection from a Bentley specialist upon purchase in 2020
  • Replacement parts wherever necessary with no regard to cost
  • Valid MOT until June 2023
  • Great service history
For such a heavyweight luxurious barge, it can move at a staggering pace thanks to that sophisticated 6-speed automatic and that outrageously powerful W12 engine up front powering all four wheels. The four wheel-drive system provides fantastic amounts of grip, however due to the weight don’t expect it to go breaking track records - that isn’t what these sumptuous convertibles are all about.
The owner states that upon purchasing the vehicle, it was thoroughly inspected by a Bentely specialist, who was informed to replace any parts which they see necessary to ensure the vehicle functions flawlessly. And that’s exactly what they did. The vehicle drives beautifully, providing a strong and predictable power output with smooth gear changes, and no unwanted knocks or bangs from the suspension. And of course, with fast-moving steel you need good brakes, we’re assured that the brakes here remain strong and precise, filling any driver with confidence behind the wheel.
As high performance as these vehicles are, going fast just isn’t what it's all about. Being ferried around in affluent style is what it's all about, these are among the best and most comfortable cruisers you can get your paws on, with unparalleled levels of quality. You won’t find much better for your money here - in both terms of luxury and speed.

Summary

Truth be told, this is a scratch many of us would like to itch. Mounds of power alongside otherworldly luxury, there really isn’t anything to hate here. Finding a low mileage, well cared for Continental GTC is becoming more and more difficult, especially one that presents itself in such beautiful specification with such a careful owner.
Whether this would become a part of someone’s collection, or just used for a cruise on the occasional sunny day, we believe that the new custodian would be over the moon with this particular example.
