The Appeal

When you’ve designed and built one of the best real-world coupes of the last 30 years, why mess with a winning formula? That was surely Audi’s thinking when it came to replacing the original TT. The second generation car stuck with the handsome lines but added more engine options and improved comfort.

Outside of the all-out performance derivatives, the pick of the range is the 2L TFSI. With 197bhp on tap, it is both quick enough to make any drive exciting and economical enough to live with day to day. This car mates that engine to the desirable 6spd manual box.

It is an exceptionally low mileage car that has covered only 21,000 miles in 18 years with its single keeper. Finished in popular black with a matching roof and leather and Alcantara interior, it is very well preserved as befits that sparing use.

Often with little-used cars, the servicing and maintenance suffers. Not so here. The service book shows a remarkable run of 14 stamps recording near-annual attention regardless of the tiny mileages covered inbetween visits. The last attention was less than 200 miles ago. Not surprisingly the MOT is a long one with no advisories.

This very smart TT is one of the best we’ve seen in a while and is perfect now that the weather is improving.
