The Appeal

The Range Rover is arguably one of the most iconic sport utility vehicles to ever grace the roads and has built a truly impressive legacy. Following development with the Land Rover Series 1 and after observing the American automotive market trends in the 1960s, the company’s focus shifted towards producing a utility vehicle with both off-road capabilities, and greater comfort. Skip ahead to 1970, and the world was introduced to the “car for all reasons”, or as we know it… The Range Rover.
Gradually, Range Rovers have moved more toward providing comfort on the road, with less focus on rugged capability and engaging driving. This particular generation of Range Rover however, sits perfectly in the middle of the two worlds. On one hand, this vehicle will handle pretty much anything you throw at it, combining its abundance of torque and clever gizmos to tackle different terrains. On the other hand, it’s one of the most comfortable and pleasant vehicles to drive on the road, sharing its ethos with the original Range Rover.
Whether you’re looking for a dependable workhorse, rapid weekend toy or a road-trip companion, this Range Rover is the perfect car for any task at hand.

The History and Paperwork

  • Only 3 former owners
  • Near full service history
  • Well maintained example
  • Original Range Rover booklets
  • Stamped service booklet
  • AMOT valid until October 2022
  • Invoices for parts and labour
  • Recently serviced in December 2021
  • V5C document present
  • 2 keys
This mighty Range Rover was first registered in October 2006, and has since been enjoyed by just 3 previous keepers, covering 106k in a dependable fashion. The current owner purchased the vehicle from Peter Vardy Jaguar/Land Rover in 2019 and has thoroughly enjoyed the vehicle for the past few years.

Throughout the current owner’s possession, the vehicle has continued to be well cared for and has been serviced & maintained with no expense spared. It is only due to lack of use, that the current owner has decided it is now time for this beast to enjoy a new home, where it will no doubt continue to be a dependable ally.
The vehicle comes with a great selection of paperwork and documentation, which includes the original Range Rover booklets, complete with a stamped service booklet (as pictured). The paperwork also includes invoices for consumables, maintenance and previous servicing, along with the V5C document ready for the new owner.

Please note: the registration will not be included with the vehicle

The Interior

  • Excellent condition
  • Harman Kardon Logic7 sound system
  • Heated seats front and rear
  • Multi-adjustable electric front seats
  • Rear LCD screens
  • Navigation system & BlueTooth compatibility
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Full Climatic air conditioning
  • Touch button suspension controls
  • Electric sunroof
It should come as no surprise that this Range Rover is absolutely packed to the brim with luxury comforts and useful electronic features, with a specification list nearly a mile long. Key features within the cabin include heated seats front and rear, full Climatic climate controls, rear LCD screens, and a Harmon Kardon Logic7 sound system.

In addition to being equipped with far more comforts than a five-star hotel, the interior of this Range Rover is also in excellent condition and shows very few signs of age. The driver’s seat of course shows the most wear throughout the cabin, but hardly detracts from the driving experience, and could easily fool you for a much lower-mileage seat. The passenger seats, on the other hand, appear to have hardly been used over the years, with the rear seats showing off a near-pristine finish.
Other than one minor crack to a rear speaker cover, the interior shows minimal signs of use. This extends even to contact points such as the steering wheel, gear selector, and all controls. With so many to choose from, it’s certainly reassuring that all controls and instruments are also in full working order, with no known issues.
In the rear, you’ll find a boot big enough to fit a small car in, and a CD changer in the side compartment. This alone is a brilliantly quirky reminder of the nature of this vehicle; a luxury CD changer tucked in the side, and then a boot large enough to haul plenty of cargo.
Overall, the interior of this Range Rover presents itself beautifully, with very few possible areas to find fault with. It’s one of those vehicles that’s genuinely comfortable to spend your time in and is perfect for long journeys.

The Exterior

  • Original black finish
  • Great condition
  • Overfinch detailing
  • 20” Range Rover alloy wheels
  • Mud flaps all round
  • Chrome tubular side runners
  • Tow bar, with towing electrics
  • Boscam rear-mounted camera
For many enthusiasts, this generation of Range Rover absolutely nailed the design and styling, which help the vehicle remain desirable even when compared to newer models. This particular vehicle has the added benefit of the Overfinch details, which look superb against the black paintwork. These details include items like the chrome side runners, wing mirrors, vents, and tailgate trim. The overall result, is a sporty-looking beauty, that demands respect wherever it ventures.
The vehicle is in great condition for its age and mileage, wearing its original black finish with pride. As is to be expected with the age, there are defects noticeable upon close inspection, which include slight damage to both front and rear bumpers. Fortunately, the car’s mirror-like black finish means that defects have minimal impact on the overall appearance. Should the new owner wish to restore the vehicle to a showroom finish, the minor marks on the exterior are likely to be easily rectifiable.
Now, it wouldn’t quite be a Range Rover without a set of 20” alloy wheels would it? The wheels suit the black and chrome finish brilliantly and are currently wrapped in a set of General Grabber all-terrain tyres, with plenty of tread to enjoy. The wheels themselves are beginning to show signs of age and would benefit from restoration to achieve a perfect finish once more. They’re also open enough to show a sneaky glimpse of the 4-pot Brembo brake calipers hiding behind.
In summary, the exterior condition of this Range Rover leaves very little to be desired, all things considered. It shows off some of the manufacturer’s best design choices yet, along with desirable Overfinch goodies. If you’re looking for a sleek, head-turning Range Rover, this is the one for you.

The Mechanics

  • Drives brilliantly
  • 4.2L supercharged V8
  • 4-wheel drive
  • 6-speed automatic, with sport & manual modes
  • Well maintained
And now, the section you’ve perhaps been waiting for; the supercharged V8 praise…
Perhaps it is the current climate we find ourselves in, but it is near impossible to resist the temptation of a whopping V8 engine, and then forced induction is added to the mix. Very few vehicles on this planet will provide as enjoyable of a soundtrack as a burbly V8, with the faint whine of a supercharger. This alone is one of the key reasons the vehicle will be sorely missed by the current keeper.
It’s not just a one-man band with the engine though, it’s also one of the most capable chassis available on the modern market, and is packed with clever tech. Key features like adjustable terrain controls, give this Range Rover both the capability and right to go, well, wherever it pleases. The vehicle will gladly eat up motorway miles, happily tootle around the city, and will rise to most off-road challenges.
Buyers will be pleased to know that this very example starts right away, and drives like a dream. With no known mechanical or electrical faults, this Range Rover has been a genuinely dependable companion for the current owner, and will no doubt continue to impress for years to come.
The combination of an excellent servicing record and fantastic engineering allows this Range Rover to simply shrug off the 106k on the clock, and perform as it did the day it left the factory. It’s not needed much over the years either, save only for regular consumables and scheduled maintenance.

Summary

There is a good reason why it is rather effortless to sing this vehicle's praise. It’s in great condition for its age, performs like a champion, and is one of the most well-equipped and comfortable vehicles on the market. The icing on top, of course, is the grin-inducing V8 soundtrack and snazzy Overfinch details.

Whether you’re looking for a taste of Range Rover luxury, seek a dependable workhorse, or simply yearn for supercharged V8 magic, this is the absolute perfect vehicle for you.
