The first thing that grabs one’s attention when stepping into this 2006 Porsche 911 is its interior colour. Leather finished in the rarely seen Cocoa colour adorns the majority of the cabin. The seats, dashboard, steering wheel and carpets all feature this dark shade of brown.
In addition to the atypical interior specification, the cabin features many optional extras. Electrically adjustable heated seats along with the multifunction steering wheel provide the car with plenty of tech whilst the Bose Audio pack and wood trim certainly harness a sense of luxury.
A sizeable screen compatible with Porsche’s contemporary navigation system sits among a barrage of buttons and controls. This model is not all about comfortable cruising however thanks to the six-speed manual shifter adorned with wood as well as the third pedal sat in front of the driver.
The whole cabin appears to be in excellent condition. Bar a few minor creases in the leather seats, every material looks like it only just left the factory. The carpets look clean and the dashboard benefits from a slightly tinted windscreen helping limit sun damage.
The Exterior
- Timeless 997 looks
- GT Silver paint in great overall condition
- Fully functioning soft top roof
More and more, the 997 generation of Porsche 911 stands out among recent sports cars for its small size. In fact, compared to the modern 992 cars, it is positively tiny. This size along with the inoffensive and uncomplicated styling makes it an increasingly timeless model.
Pair this fantastic styling that doesn’t try too hard with an un-eccentric shade of GT Silver and one has a fantastic looking Porsche. This car stands out from other like it thanks to its great condition. Throughout, the paintwork looks sublime bar one small key mark on the rear lid and the odd scuff mark on the front lip.
This paint colour is beautifully contrasted by the elegance of cocoa brown soft top. The owner assures us that this model’s convertible roof goes up and down without issue.
The car sits on a wonderfully kept set of OEM 15-spoke wheels, fitted with a matching set of Bridgestone tyres. There appears to be good tread on the tyres whilst some small scuff marks are present on the driver’s side wheels.
Elsewhere, the underside is certainly very clean thanks to the flat floor cover. Furthermore, all fixtures such as badges, light covers and trim pieces appear to present well.
The Mechanics
- 3.6-litre flat-six, 325hp
- Starts and drives well
In 997.1 Carrera form, the 3.6-litre flat-six engine that powers this convertible 911 puts out a respectable 325hp. This is certainly plenty for a first 911 experience, especially with the fantastic traction provided by the rear-engine layout.
With good service history, it is clear that this car had lived a pampered life. In fact, it reportedly belonged to an older owner for a number of years that did not abuse it. Furthermore, with its low mileage figure of just 83,997km, one can expect a healthy example. The current owner confirms this by mentioning how easy it starts and how reliably it drives.
Summary
A handsome specification for a drop top 997.1-generation Porsche 911, this 2006 model presents very well and currently sits in great condition thanks to low miles. It resides in Belgium following a full and complete importation from the United States, with all paperwork and registration work in order.
