The Appeal
The R230 was clever. Where previous SL owners had to manually switch between hard top and soft top options, finding storage space for the former, the new car could convert from coupe to convertible at the press of a button.
There was a huge range of engines to match the versatility. The M273 5litre V8 provided 300bhp heft to match the sleek looks, with a luxury specification to suit. Mercedes-Benz’ clever Active Body Control suspension provided the handling to match the performance.
Finished in Telirium Silver with Daytona Blue leather interior, this low mileage SL500 has clearly been very well cared for. There are few, if any, signs of age and use across its interior and exterior. A full service history and long MOT to November 2024 confirm the sense of a great example of a hugely capable sports car.
