The Appeal

The E-Class always appeared to be a bit of a half-car, in many respects - never quite managing to hit their balance and provide a truly great vehicle for their money. It was this 3rd generation that saw that change. The W211 was powerful, it was nicely finished, and it felt like it had plenty of eye for handling and outright drivability. It simply got it 'right' - and that was only taken further with the AMG variant - and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, this facelifted, updated version arrived in 2006.

This is the car that gave BMW's M5 a bit of a battering, which must have felt pretty therapeutic for the lads at at Merc HQ. This was amongst the fastest sedans out there, offering a remarkable 500hp to the wheels. A genuine supercar-for-four, sitting comfortably peerless at the top of its target market, and it's not likely we'll ever see a car like it again.

As a result, a good example tends to really pick up attention - and this one won't be an exception. Well-travelled though it might be, it's solid and highly original, with a good stock of paperwork to prove a history of careful ownership.
