2006 Aston Martin DB9 Volante

Highlights

  • Very well presented DB9 Volante in a gorgeous colour combination, with recent alloy wheel refurbishment(Not shown in the pictures) and new rear tyres
  • Will receive a fresh service immediately prior to completion of auction
  • Fabulous open-air GT powered by a superb naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12

The Appeal

Enjoying a production run from 2004 to 2016, the DB9 represented the dawn of a new era for Aston Martin. Built at Aston Martin’s then-new facility at Gaydon, the car used a new bonded aluminium and composite platform, combined with a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine. The resulting car set a new benchmark, not just for Aston Martin, but for all luxury GT cars.
The DB9’s fabulous powerplant delivers its 450 bhp in the way only a V12 engine can, that is to say, with turbine-like smoothness and the impression of endless reserves of power. Penned by Ian Callum and Henrik Fisker, the DB9 is a masterclass in understated elegance, and one many would say is yet to be bettered.
The car offered here takes all of these elements and adds the further glamour, sophistication, and pure enjoyment of top-down motoring. Offered in a stunning combination of Chiltern green over black, this well-presented car is a fabulous example of the rarefied DB9 breed.

  • Will receive fresh AM specialist service prior to completion of auction sale

The Interior

  • Sophisticated black ‘Bridge of Weir’ leather interior with contrasting stitching over black carpet
  • Central console in rich wood veneer, concealing the satellite navigation screen
  • Folding hood headlining in excellent condition
Contrasting perfectly with the Chiltern Green exterior paintwork, the black leather interior of this DB9 presents very nicely indeed. The overall impression is one of great quality and refinement, representing an age before touchscreens dominated the cabin.
The beautifully sculptured and supportive seats are showing only mild wear, most evident in the usual area of the driver’s bolster. The vendor reports that the interior leather has recently benefited from a feed and, apart from the expected creasing, has no significant damage in the form of rips or tears. Note is made of some minor leather shrinkage over the top of the dashboard – an issue common to these cars and one that could be easily rectified should it be desired.
All interior equipment is reported by the vendor to be functioning normally. This includes the usual refinements of air conditioning, powered seats, multi-disc CD player and satellite navigation. The interior is nicely finished with stunning jewel-like gauges, often said to give the appearance of a fine Swiss watch.

The Exterior

  • Gorgeous combination of Chiltern green paintwork with a folding black hood
  • Benefiting from some recent documented bodywork attention
  • Fully refurbished alloy wheels shod in excellent Bridgestone Potenza tyres all round
This DB9 Volante just looks fabulous in its colour combination of a black roof over Chiltern green paintwork. Looking at the photographed documentation it would appear that in recent years the car has benefited from specialist paintwork attention to the front and rear aspects of the car. This work has clearly been completed to a high standard and the car’s exterior presents in great condition today.
The vendor reports that the car will be undergoing full alloy wheel restoration prior to the completion of the auction which will only serve to further improve the exterior appearance of the car. Bidders should note that the photographs provided were taken prior to the alloy wheel restoration.

The Mechanics

  • Recent documented service at 61,000 miles with further service planned prior to auction sale
  • Stamped service book present with the car
  • Recent MOT completed with no advisories
  • Vendor reports the car is operating well with no warning lights or messages during operation
  • Very clean and well-presented engine bay
The vendor reports that this DB9 Volante is in excellent running condition and that the powered folding roof is operating normally.
The photographed documentation demonstrates recent servicing at 61,000 miles in November 2021 and the vendor also reports he will also ensure that the car is fully serviced prior to auction completion.
All fluid levels are reported to be normal and the car is ready to go!

Summary

A lovely example of one of Aston Martin’s very best. The beautiful DB9 Volante combines drop-dead gorgeous styling and fabulous V12 power with the joys of open-top motoring - truly a fabulous driving experience not to be missed!
