The Appeal
With the Boxster’s arrival in 1996 came a number of Porsche firsts. It became the first Porsche to be specifically designed as a roadster since the 914. It was also a pioneer in the engine compartment. It was the first Porsche to feature a rear mounted, water-cooled engine, a feature that would predominate in Porsches from this point onwards.
This second-generation Boxster adds a number of key refinements to an already impressive specification. This includes optional 19-inch wheels, sublime leather interior and increased power and flexibility. In the 3.2L S model, this originally meant a new high of 280bhp and an accompanying 160mph top speed.
