The Appeal
Like tasty Italian gelato, you can have your 911 in virtually any flavour. But there’s a strong case to argue that the best flavour - the mint choc chip of 911s if you will - is this one, the 997 Carrera S.
The 997 built on the 996 formula by adding back in some classic design cues like the round headlights and retro-style dashboard. The ‘S’ package brought a bigger flat-six motor - now 3.8L - and 29bhp more urge. There were also suspension and specification tweaks to further add to its appeal.
This car eschews the modern trend toward sequential auto boxes - we approve - with its ‘old school’ manual box - all the better to engage with that sonorous flat-six. Finished in Midnight Blue with grey leather and stylish ‘lobster’ five spokes, it is in very good condition. Always maintained by Porsche main dealers or specialists, it has been used and enjoyed by its keepers but looked after too.
With MOT to June 2025 and few signs of its age, this is a very smart modern classic to use and enjoy.
