The Appeal
Gracing the world's road for 60 years the Porsche 911 has offered amazing driving characteristics for a reasonable cost when compared to offerings from other marques.
Debuting in 1997 the 996 generation of the 911 was a ground-breaking model, being the first 911 to use a water-cooled engine Porsche could unlock even more potential with their halo model.

The Interior
- Lots of optional extras fitted
- Comfortable leather seats
- Working sunroof
- Satellite navigation
- Original Porsche car phone
Upon opening the door of this thoroughbred sports car, you are welcomed by a well-presented light grey interior. Its leather seats and fully working infotainment system make for an exceptional experience that no sports car of the time can rival.
Let’s begin a deeper inspection of the interior with the two front seats. The driver’s seat is in good overall condition with only a few minor, age-related, marks around the side bolster. The passenger seat is in very good condition with again only very minor age-related marks around one of the side bolsters. Both of these front seats are heated and electrically operated. The rear seats are in great condition, they look as if they have never been used.
Returning to the front it’s time we have a look at some of the toys that have been fitted inside this amazing modern classic. Set into the centre console is a large screen that displays a multitude of information. This includes the working sat-nav, telephone function (a sim card will be required), radio settings, and whatever CD you wish to play from the six-disc multi-changer. This screen was tested on the day of the photos, and it performed as if it had just rolled off the production line.
Just below the screen, you’ll find the controls for the air-conditioning/heating. It’s just had its two A/C condensers replaced and A/C re-gassed, so this function works beautifully and is very welcome on a warm summer’s day.
You may be able to observe some slight signs of use dotted around the interior. As these marks are only superficial and do not affect any of the car’s interior features they should not detract from the interior as a whole.
On the steering wheel, you have twin controls for the Tiptronic automatic gearbox. With up and down on both sides, you can operate the gearbox with only one hand.
There is also an electric sunroof fitted to this C4s, this feature worked as it should on the day of the photos.

The last area of the interior to comment on is the boot. Located at the front of the car we find an ample-sized boot that could accommodate a reasonably sized weekend bag.
The condition of this boot is very good indeed. All of the original Porsche plastics are presented without any cracks and the carpets are also in good condition. Under the carpet, you’ll find the spare wheel, tyre inflator, and warning triangle. You can also find the original build sticker which documents all of the options fitted from the factory.

Overall, the interior of this C4s is in very good condition. All of the expensive electrical options work as they should and with only some slight marking to the surfaces, it is still a very good example.

The Exterior
- Fetching inky blue paint
- Great condition alloys
- Working spoiler
- Matching Pirelli P Zero Rosso’s
When it launched the 996 was a bit of a departure from the expected 911 styling. However, after nearly 20 years the 996 has become a standout generation thanks to its distinctive styling. This example, finished in a deep blue, looked stunning when we arrived to take the photographs.
The Lapis Blue paint that graces every panel of this 996 is in very good condition indeed. There are a few minor dings near the fuel filler flap, these are very difficult to notice from afar, you have to get close and move around to see them properly. A quick visual inspection was undertaken on the day as well and it appeared to be in very good condition, there are a few photos that can be found in the gallery below.
On each corner, you’ll find a well-preserved silver alloy wheel. All of these alloys are virtually unmarked apart from some slight marking to the off-side rear alloy. Wrapped in a set of matching Pirelli P Zero Rosso’s you can tell that this car has always been looked after.
Following the sweeping exterior lines towards the wide rear haunches of the 996, we find our way to the rear end. Here, there are a few areas of interest.
To begin let's look at the electrically operated rear spoiler. When not in use this tucks flush with the bodywork, but should you approach motorway speeds the rear wing will raise. On the day we operated the wing by a button in the driver’s footwell, it came up and went back down without any problems. Just below this, you’ll see the distinctive rear reflector that spans the gap between the light clusters.

Overall, the exterior of this 996 C4s is in very good condition. With only a few minor marks to report it will look great as part of your collection.

The Mechanics
- Porsche main dealer history
- Runs and drives very well
- Tiptronic automatic gearbox
- 3.6-litre engine – 320bhp
- Extremely low mileage
This is the section where the 911 really stands out from the rest of the crowd. It may not be the most powerful modern classic sports car on the market, but it makes up for this with exceptional handling and an engaging drive.
On the day of the photoshoot, the car was taken out for a short test drive on country roads, during this drive the car performed as you’d expect. It was more than happy to pootle around a village at 30mph, but as the road opened up and we passed a national speed limit sign it took off into the distance thanks to its 4wd system and 320hp on tap. The gearbox was responsive when you use the steering wheel controls, changing up or down on command. During the drive, no undue noises were heard from the suspension or drivetrain.

There’s an invoice dated March 2022 for a little over £4,000. During this trip to the garage, a new sports exhaust was fitted along with new brake discs and pads, spark plugs, coil packs, anti-vibration dampers, and other sundries. It has also recently had new front coffin arms. A major service was also carried out in March 2024 for nearly £4,000.
With a touch over 34,000 miles on the clock this 996 C4s is offered for sale with very low mileage for one of these so why not take the opportunity and get behind the wheel of it?

Summary
When the 996 launched it may have upset a few purists, but it was a step in the right direction for the marque to update their halo model in line with other sports cars. Today, these cars have started to gain a following as they offer exceptional value for money.
This example has been cherished by all of its previous owners and as such it now sits in very good overall condition. With many optional extras, extremely low mileage, and main dealer service history, you don’t want to miss out on this example.
