The Appeal
The CLK has always offered its owners a slice of luxury without breaking the bank, this example has had a lovely ownership past and has been looked after properly from day one. It has a lot of history with it that will document some of the most recent works completed
Whether you wish to travel with the top up or down, be rest assured that you will be doing it in pure style.
The History and Paperwork
- From new, this CLK has only had three owners
- Two of these previous owners were Father and Son, meaning it has stayed within the same family until the current owner acquired it in 2020
- Even then it didn’t move far as the previous and current owners were neighbours
- Since then, the current owner has done some assorted works to keep it in great running condition
- In August 2020, not long after they acquired the car it passed the MOT with no advisories. It then had its B service and full inspection
- Later in 2020, repairs were carried out to the roof cover, and cables were adjusted to ensure the smooth operation of the roof
- To bring the paint back to life it was then taken to a detailer who completed the following; paint decontamination, 3 stage machine polish, and applied a 3 year ceramic coating to paint, wheels and glass.
- In January 2021 a new genuine Mercedes battery was fitted at an independent Mercedes specialist
- During August 2021 there were new front suspension arms fitted, along with a brake fluid and coolant change
- The current owner then sourced genuine 18" AMG Staggered Alloy Wheels acquired and fitted, a facelift CLK grille was also fitted
- 4 new Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tyres were fitted in November
- The washer pump hose was replaced
- Most recently in May 2022, an A service was completed with new hydraulic rams fitted for the convertible hatch in the boot
- It is now your chance to get behind the wheel, and enjoy modern top down motoring
- Will be sold with the reg plate "WK55 EVC"
The Interior
- Factory fitted extras
- Lovely wooden trim
- Comfortable leather seats
- Automatic climate control
Wow, what a lovely interior there is fitted to this Mercedes. Filled with tech this cabin gives off the same feeling that a new Mercedes would. There are lots of toys to play with when you get bored sitting in traffic. You will have so much fun in the cabin of this modern classic Mercedes.
To start with, this example is fitted with four comfortable looking, leather seats. These are not only electrically operated but they are also heated, a great feature if you’re planning to use this as a daily commuter over the colder months. All of the seats fitted are presented in very good condition, there is a small mark on one of the rear seats, but you’d expect some wear from nearly 20 years of use.
It is not only the seats that are in good condition, the dash and centre console area is also presented very nicely for sale. The wooden trim that surrounds the controls has aged gracefully, with no obvious signs of sun bleaching or delamination. Set within the middle of the wood you will find the central screen, this system will control the sat nav, radio, CD, and possibly other functions. It helps make the cabin feel modern, even after 17 years.
The whole point of the CLK is so you can enjoy the thrills of top down motoring, with the electrically operated roof down the cabin is filled with air and light making the driving experience even better. Should the weather change, or you no longer want the roof down, then with a simple press of the button the roof will rise elegantly and lock into position. Over the years this roof mechanism has had some work to make sure it still works as it should.
Overall, the interior condition of this Mercedes is in lovely condition. It is clear to see that all of the previous owners, and the current owner, have treated it with love and respect. That baton now falls to you.
The Exterior
- Genuine AMG alloys
- Facelift grille fitted
- Good hood condition
- Effortlessly good looking
This CLK may be approaching its second decade, but it doesn’t look it. The current owner sent the car off to a professional detailer where it was given a bit of a pamper, with a decontamination process, a polish, and then a three year ceramic coating applied. This means that the paint looks excellent from every angle, and you still have a bit of time left on the ceramic too.
Not only has the car been detailed, but a few subtle changes have also been made to the exterior looks. Firstly, the old wheels have been replaced in favour of these beautiful and well-presented AMG wheels. To complement the new looks the grille was also upgraded to a facelift version, making it look even newer.
It's these small details that will make sure this car will continue to gracefully age during your ownership.
As the car has been on the road for a while there are a few areas of the exterior that aren’t ‘as new’, however, they are nothing to worry too much about as we’ll now explain.
Firstly, this car suffers from a common CLK fault around the rear deck. The roof bag elastic has broken, this now means it protrudes slightly around the rear window, but the current owner reports no water ingress from this area. Secondly, there is a small crease to the nearside wing by the driver’s door. And finally, there is some minor, superficial, slightly damages when somebody scraped against the car (see photos). Apart from these small areas, the exterior looks great.
The Mechanics
- Full-service history
- Long MOT
- Runs and drives well
- Beautiful to drive
The CLK is not just about interior sophistication or exterior beauty it is also all about performance. As this is the CLK320, you’ll find a rather pokey 3.2l V6 under the bonnet. This engine has been looked after properly during its life as the current owner states there is full specialist service history.
Out on the road this car is said to handle well and perform just like it did the day it left the factory, but would you expect anything else from German engineering? You will have so much fun behind the wheel of this noughties icon.
If you’re used to driving modern cars you may need to take a while to get used to the brakes on this car, they do work as intended, but they are a little ‘off their time’. But you may be able to get a bit more stopping power if you play around with disc and pad combinations. This shouldn’t be too much of an issue though as the rest of the drivetrain is very good. You will always want to get out and about with this car. The 3.2l V6 provides ample power, and even has a nice soundtrack too, driving is further enhanced by the smooth automatic gearbox.
Summary
Overall, this is a lovely example of Mercedes doing what they do best. This example has been well looked after throughout its life and it is now your turn to take over the ownership of this modern classic.
Wherever you go with this vehicle you will be doing it with a smile on your face that’s for sure.
