The Appeal
The S-Type R is a Jaguar with its feet firmly, and comfortable, in the past and the future. Its styling echoes the Mk2, which invented the super saloon, while the performance pushes it to the front of the modern high performance saloon market.
Just 1,274 RHD version of these 400bhp supercars were built. Reviewers highly praised the handling and performance, but it is the car’s classically Jaguar balance of speed and comfort that sets it apart from its rivals.
This 2005 facelift car improves on the original with a Swallows supercharger upgrade - that increases power by 20bhp - and a XS body kit. There is also an aurally satisfying burble from the sports exhaust.
The maintenance regime suits the performance. The transmission was renewed in 2019 and the sophisticated CATs shock absorbers in 2021. The full service history has been kept up to date irrespective of mileage, including several visits in the last couple of thousand miles. It was last serviced in February 2024 less than 100 miles ago.
Well maintained and in desirable ‘black on black’ colour scheme, it also carries an advisory-free MOT to February 2025.
