The Appeal

Over the course of half a century, the Thunderbird appeared in all manner of sizes, shapes and sizes. Angles, curves, arches and grilles - this was a car that seemed almost in constant flux, generation after generation of variety and contrast. It was perhaps only fitting that, for its 11th generation in 2002, it went back to the classic.

This car was nostalgic to the extreme - a bold, curvy, distinctive car that had a very set design language. It was unrepentant and uncompromising and even brought back the likes of a retro 'Porthole' window in its options catalogue. Sadly, it was perhaps a little too bold for a time when the market was veering on its most conservative - and didn't achieve the sales they were hoping for.

In 2005, Ford announced they were ending the line, right on the 50th anniversary year. It was a sad note to see the last Thunderbird, but twenty years later, what a note it is. This car is an evocative modern classic if ever there was one, with retro-informed styling, a limited edition colour palette and a picture-perfect Jaguar V8 under the bonnet.

Offering a remarkably low mileage, comprehensive service history and the rare 'Evening Black' livery - one of only 1,713 - this rare car is bound to turn plenty of heads at auction and will no doubt prove an incredibly fun addition to your fleet.
