2005 Bentley Flying Spur

Highlights

  • 550bhp W12 engine
  • Excellent leather interior
  • Long MOT

The Appeal

Any Bentley is an indulgence, especially one which features a six-litre W12 engine producing 550bhp. Nobody ever needs that many cylinders, or that much power. But Bentley ownership isn’t about need is it? It’s about that desirable combination of performance and luxury. The ability to cross continents at speed and in the utmost comfort.
This particular Flying Spur is presented in excellent condition inside and out. It has benefitted from long term ownership and has evidently been carefully looked after. The interior is sumptuous and well preserved, and the Silver Lake paintwork is an excellent choice of colour.
The next owner of this Bentley will undoubtedly enjoy basking in its comfortable embrace just as much as they will enjoy acquainting themselves with the precise capabilities of 550 horses assembled en masse.

The History and Paperwork

  • First registered 21st December 2005
  • Only three former keepers
  • Purchased by the vendor in August 2016
  • Maintained since by Bentley specialists Prasads Automotive
  • Extensive invoices on file for parts and servicing
  • Driven regularly by the current owner
  • The car currently sports a personalised registration plate, but will be supplied with its original number: PO55 LPX

The Interior

  • Exquisite leather interior
  • ‘Saffron’ leather seats with contrasting ‘Portofino’ door cards and trim
  • The seats appear to be in excellent condition, with little sign of use and only very slight wear to the driver’s seat
  • There are no obvious rips or stains to the upholstery
  • The seats are both heated and ventilated and are fitted with a massage function, which is all said to be in working order
  • The driver’s headrest adjuster button is apparently broken, but the switch still functions
  • Thick pile carpets line the cabin and are in good order. They remain sumptuous, with only a little wear to the driver’s footwell
  • The veneers on the dashboard and centre console are in an excellent state of polish and exhibit a fine grain
  • The buttons and switches also show little sign of use
  • The headlining is clean and secure
  • To the rear, the cavernous boot has space for plenty of luggage
  • The boot release is said to be temperamental in heavy rain
  • The vendor tells us that an OEM space saver spare wheel comes with the car

The Exterior

  • ‘Silver Lake’ paintwork in good condition
  • Only a few minor scuffs and scratches to be found
  • Good, straight body panels
  • Imposing mesh radiator grille
  • There is a noticeable scratch on the lower left section of the rear bumper, and a little bubbling inside the wheel arches
  • The lamp lenses appear clear and bright, with a small blemish on the offside headlamp
  • The driver’s door soft closer doesn’t currently work
  • Exterior trim all present and correct
  • The underside is said to be in good condition
  • The 20-inch alloy wheels are well presented, with only a few minor scuffs and the tyres are said to retain good tread

The Mechanics

  • Six-litre W12 engine
  • Automatic transmission
  • Said to start easily, even on cold mornings
  • The air conditioning is reportedly fully functional
  • Both front air springs are said to have been replaced, as well as the rear brake callipers and brake pads all round in February 2022
  • Long MOT to January 2024
  • The seller tells us that the car has recently been serviced

Summary

A beautifully preserved example of this luxurious saloon, which benefits from a long MOT and powerful engine.
