The Appeal

Smashing onto the luxury car scene in 2003, the Continental GT has been an unstoppable force ever since. Offering a hitherto unseen combination of handsome styling, outrageous performance, a unique drivetrain and quite fabulous build quality, it’s little wonder that it remains as popular as ever.
Here we have a very smart example, well cared for with a fine service history and presented in the much sought after Mulliner specification. With below average mileage, it holds up incredibly well, with a sumptuous interior and handsome styling. For the lady or gentleman that wishes to cover vast distances at pace and in absolute opulence, it’s the perfect choice…

The Interior

  • Black, quilted leather upholstery
  • Parking sensors front and rear
  • Electric windows and door mirrors
  • Electric seats with heating, memory and massage functions
  • Cruise control
  • Hands-free phone connectivity, factory sound system
  • Satellite navigation system
  • Dual zone air conditioning
The deep, cosseting seats of this Bentley, together with the door cards and dashboard, are swathed in lovely, soft black leather, much of it with quilted detailing, contrast stitching and embroidered flying ‘B’ logos. All of the leather shows very nicely, with no tears or significant wear to be seen.
Complementing the leather are dark grey carpets and floor mats, themselves presenting in fine condition, with no staining or damage apparent.
One of the key things in the Bentley cabin is the quality of the materials and finish. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the switchgear and instrumentation. From the knurled metal controls and gear lever to the piano black trim and Breitling analogue dashboard clock, there’s a real sense of distinction to every detail. Everything appears to be in fine condition too, with no damage or significant wear we could identify. In fact, the vendor tells us that everything works perfectly, with no issues to report in the cabin.
Another benefit of the Continental’s layout is the capacious boot area, which is much more practical that you’d expect from a 2+2 grand tourer. It’s trimmed out in grey carpet, which presents in fine fettle, and also contains the toolkit and spacesaver spare wheel.

The Exterior

  • Metallic black paintwork
  • Electronically operated rear spoiler
  • Split-rim alloy wheels
Smooth and without any obvious major faults, the paintwork of this Bentley shows exceedingly well. We’re sure there is the odd minor blemish or mark somewhere to be seen, but certainly nothing that would give us any concern.
Similarly, the bodywork and trim all looks to be lovely and straight, with no corrosion or damage we could see. The brightwork has a deep lustre, including that iconic, polished mesh grille. The only issue we noticed was a little delamination to the Bentley badge on the bonnet, but this is quite minor.
The wheels are the correct seven-spoke, 20-inch, split-rim items. They wear a nice shine and look to be in very fine order, with no kerb damage or lacquer peel evident. They’re shod with a matched set of Pirelli P-Zero tyres, which look to be in excellent condition, with the vendor telling us these are relatively newly fitted.

The Mechanics

  • 5,998cc twin-turbo W12
  • Six-speed automatic transmission, with paddle-shifters
  • All-wheel drive system
  • Electronically adjustable suspension
With a pair of turbos huffing into the W12 like huge blacksmith’s bellows, this vast 6-litre lump pushes out a mighty 550hp. But it’s the torque that’s the really impressive thing – vast waves of it arriving at will, surging the car onwards like a tidal wave. Despite its luxurious appointments and not inconsiderable weight, this means a 0-60mph charge of just 4.7 seconds, and a top speed somewhere north of 190mph.
The engine bay is neat and tidy, with no evidence we could identify of leaks or other issues. In fact, the vendor tells us that the car drives supremely well, with no smoke, leaks, unusual noises or any other mechanical issues reported. With below average mileage and a fine service record, it should be good for many years to come.

Summary

Exceptionally well made, beautifully detailed and possessed of colossal power, this Continental GT is a very fine vehicle, and has clearly been cherished over the years. If you’re in the market for a luxury grand tourer, this simply must be considered.
