THE APPEAL
Congratulations! You’ve come along at just the right time to potentially become the new owner of this superb 2004 Porsche Boxster S. As you will see, the car is in excellent fettle, both the bodywork and mechanically, with an excellent service history. It also benefits from a Vertex IMS bearing upgrade kit, and at the same time this was done, a new clutch and dual-mass flywheel were fitted. This work was carried out in 2017 at 39,216 miles.
The seller has owned the Boxster for three years. Used mainly as a weekend car, he has covered approximately 10,000 miles in his ownership. It is now your turn to become custodian, just in time for the summer when the Boxster comes into its own. Sun’s out, roof down and listen to that wonderful 3.2litre flat-six.
THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Registered 27th May 2004
- V5 present
- Excellent service history
- Two Keys
- Owner’s manuals present
- Selection of previous invoices
- MOT valid until 6th April 2023
THE INTERIOR
- Graphite Grey leather upholstery
- Original head-unit
- Parrot phone kit
- Original wind deflector
- Genuine tool kit
The Porsche is finished with Graphite Grey leather to the seats with the Porsche logo embossed headrests. These are in very good condition with a few age-related creases. There does look to have been a minor repair on the passenger seat backrest at some point, but this is minimal. The door cards are in good order with no scuffs or damage.
Sitting behind the wheel of the Boxster is a nice place to be. The instruments with the rev counter mounted centre stage are working as they should, with the odometer displaying a reading of 59,979 miles. There are no engine warning lights displayed when the car is running. The heater controls are in good order and working as they should. The Boxster also had both air conditioning condensers replaced in 2017. Just below is the factory Head-unit, and integrated with this is a Parrot Bluetooth system. The 6-speed gear knob shows little signs of any wear, as do the electric window switches that are both working as they should.
The carpets are in excellent condition, having been protected with a set of factory mats which are also in good order. The wind deflector, ready for when the roof is down, is located in the boot, and the front storage area holds the spare wheel, jack, tool kit and warning triangle.
THE EXTERIOR
- Seal Grey metallic
- The roof is in excellent condition
- Rear parking sensors
- Excellent wheels
Finished in the lovely Seal Grey metallic, this 2004 Boxster S is really well presented. Starting at the front, there are a few small chips to mention, which you would expect for the age and mileage of the vehicle. Being the later model, the headlights lose the noticeable orange indicators favouring the more desirable clear look lenses. These are bright and clear, with no chips. Looking at the bonnet, this looks to align as it should with the wings and bumper.
Around to the sides, looking down the flanks, there are no unsightly dings or dents to point out, just a small scratch to the driver’s side quarter by the door aperture. The roof is in very good condition, with a few light crease marks as you would expect, which is quite standard on any cabriolet This also operates as it should, going up and down with no hesitation.
At the rear are no scuffs to the bumper, possibly helped by the parking sensors, which are working as they should. The boot lid clicks open like the front at the touch of a button, and the Boxster S badge is in good order. The five-spoke wheels are in excellent condition, with no corrosion to the faces or any kerb marks which we could see. The tyres are also in good condition with a good amount of tread remaining.
THE MECHANICS
- 3.2-Litre petrol flat-6
- 6-Speed manual
- IMS upgrade
- New clutch
- New cats
- Excellent history
- Last service 1,866 miles ago
Fitted with the mid-mounted 3.2-litre flat-six engine, the Porsche Boxster S will propel you from 0-60mph in 5.2 seconds with a top speed of 165mph, more than enough to keep you entertained, don’t you think?
The car has been well serviced throughout its life and, for your peace of mind, as already mentioned, has had the IMS bearing upgraded with a Vertex upgrade kit. At the same time, a clutch kit was fitted, after it was inspected and advised to do so whilst it was all off to do the IMS.
The car starts up just as it should and sounds fantastic. There are no untoward noises coming from the engine. The seller reports that the car drives as it should, pulling well through the 6-speed manual gearbox. Also, the brakes are in good order, bringing the vehicle to a halt as they should. The red calipers are in good condition, with no chips to the finish, often seen when having pads fitted. The drilled discs also look to be in good condition with no excessive lip to be seen.
