- Striking Speed Yellow exterior paint
The Appeal
Introduced in 1997 the 986 Porsche Boxster was the marques entry level sports car which would allow anyone to easily access the exquisite driving dynamics they are known for. With a design harking back to the 550 Spyder it was a great looking little sports car. To complement its sleek looks a pokey powerplant was required, its 2.5L boxer engine would initially produce 204 PS but this would increase throughout the subsequent generations.
In June of 2002, the 986 had a model enhancement as it entered the twilight years of its life. This car, a 2004 Boxster S, left the factory with 260 HP, 310 Nm of torque, and an acclaimed 0-60 of 5.7 seconds. According to Porsche’s newsroom section, 13,368 units of this model were produced.
The History and Paperwork
- Production of this car was completed in March 2003
- However, it wasn’t registered until April 2004
- Only having 3 owners since new this Boxster has been cared for well
- The current owner acquired the car in 2008 and has lavished it with care and attention
- Private registration will be retained by the current owner
- It has only been used on special occasions, hence the low mileage
- When not in use it has been stored in a garage under a cover on trickle charge
- They have decided it is now time to let someone else enjoy this fetching modern classic

- The last service was carried out by Pro Alfa in 2016 at 23,008 miles
- At this time the front pants and discs were changed
- There are a few other assorted invoices in the cars folder

- These black leather seats are in great condition
- Due to the low mileage, the leather has not experienced the usual wear
- This has left both of the seats in amazing condition
- The three spoke leather and aluminium steering wheel is in great condition as well
- Other optional extras include but are not limited to, the exterior colour centre console, aluminium gear stick and BOSE speakers
- It was also fitted with air-conditioning but as the car was last re-gassed in 2018 it requires another re-gassing
- However, if you get warm on the way home then you can always retract the electric roof
- Operating with the press of a button the roof elegantly raises and lowers itself
- With the roof down the cabin is filled with natural light
- It almost changes the character of this sports car into a comfortable cruiser
- An interesting feature of the Boxster is its boot arrangement
- As it's mid-engined you still get the traditional Porsche front boot, but also an extra space in the rear
- This additional boot makes for a practical sports car that could be used for extended stays away
- Overall, the interior of this Porsche is in amazing condition and just waiting for you to hop in
The Exterior
- Externally this Boxster S is a bit of a head turner
- Finished in Speed Yellow with 18” Carrera alloys
- These 18” Carrera alloys are in amazing condition

- The exterior paint is virtually unmarked
- It still retains a deep yellow colour
- The yellow is broken up with the black fabric roof and Boxster S decals
- Its fabric top is in great condition with no rips, pulls, or any damage at all
- When the roof is retracted it is stored neatly behind the two seats
- With no roof, it is easy to spot a couple of other features
- These are the wind deflector in between the seats and the rollover bars finished in Speed Yellow
- This car looks good with the roof up or down
- Its striking yellow paint will turn heads wherever you go in it
- Overall, the exterior of this 986 Boxster S is in amazing condition

- Its most recent service was completed 1,000 miles ago
- New front discs and pads were fitted at this time as well
- The car has just been fitted with a new battery
- The car did start for us and idled beautifully
- It was also successfully manoeuvred around the vendor’s drive without any problems
- The vendor also mentioned an issue with a sticky reverse light switch
- This however does not affect the driving pleasure that this car can offer
Summary
With only 24,000 miles on the odometer, a great service history, and a huge factory specification this 986 Boxster S is a bit of a catch really. Opportunities to own such cars do not present themselves regularly so you do not want to miss this one.
Cherished by the current owner for the past 15 years it's now your chance to create some long lasting memories behind the wheel of this modern classic.
