The Appeal

When they hit the market, the Porsche 996 attracted plenty of scrutiny. It was, after all, the biggest change that Porsche's legendary 911 had ever gone through in one generation. The times were changing, and air-cooled engines had finally had their day in the company's pursuit of performance and emission controls. The 996, as a result, was the first of its line to carry a water-cooled unit.

This example was registered in June 2004, setting it in the spotlight as one of the final cars manufactured. With only 50,552 miles on the odometer, it's quite the ambassador for the 996 too, with its beguiling lines still fully intact and the silver paintwork nicely presented.

The 996 has gone down as one of the company's finest 21st century efforts - and if you've never gotten behind the wheel of one before, this could well be the perfect opportunity.
